Unfortunately I have nothing to add here as my schedule has kept me too busy to use my khukris much lately. However I have had a hankering for some of Uncle Bill's khukri legends/stories (or anyone else for that matter!!) and thought I'd see if I could prompt a story or two.

Heard a recent one from a former Scottish Highlander who served with Gurkhas in Malaya in the 50's.

He told me the Gurkhas would often gamble by throwing their khukuris at a coin taped or somehow fastened to a wood door. Whoever split the coin first with his khukuri won the pot.

Thought this might interest those interested in throwing khukuris.

You didn't win, Cliff. You lost the price of a new door. The Highlander told me that the barracks were very primitive so there were no complaints about damaging doors.
