Over at sword forum international the leading past-time (sp?) is cutting plastic bottles. I took my 18" kobra and almost cleanly cut a 16 fl. oz. bottle in half. the cut went all the way through but the two pieces went flying. I still havent put its first edge on it. Any way, for those of you who have tried, how do knuks, the HI katana and the tibetan sword compare to the euro and japanese swords over at SFI?

Back in the days before I developed an as-yet unresolved post-surgical hernia, I did a fair amount of plastic jug cutting with lots of edged weapons, taking lots of photos which have unfortunately not survived hard drive replacement. I never tried a kobra, but did use 18" and 20" sirupatis. Frankly, khukuris are the least effective tools for the medium - katanas are far and away the most effective, followed by koras, which are much less elegant than katanas, but very effective in a brutal sort of way - the large recurve causes a secondary entrance wound on the backside.

I would like to see a cutting comparison between the HI katana and another good brand Paul Chen? As well maybe the Tibetan sword thrown in the mix.

I'll reach for my Falcata and/or Tarwar when the plastic bottles invade!

ok, I was hoping that it wasnt just bad technique. I did start to think that a HI katana would be fun to throw around along with the paul chen and possibly compare the tibetan sword to a light atrim.
