I noticed last night that a Khukuri is one of the weapon options in the game NeverWinter Nights. They spell it wrong in the description, but its there none the less. Has anyone else seen khuks in games?

I started playing "Chop Some Wood" a couple of years ago. But I'm not sure that's the type of answer you're looking for. I bought the game from some guy in Reno. ;)

No, I hope I don't.

As others have from time to time pointed out,
there is a image consideration when it comes to
the legality of owning khuks.
More in some places than others.
I'd rather khuks stay more unknown than known,
except when they are shown as tools.

Why on earth would a knife, even a big knife like a khuk be illegal to own? I just don't understand that. In the area that I live it is illegal to carry a knife over a certain size in public, however, this doesn't make it illegal to own.

Because some people don't live in a free country. Let's make sure WE don't follow that same dark path.

There's one in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, at least it looks like one. It's at the end of an alley near the first save point.

make provision for such a weapon. I know Palladium has released a few books to be compatible with many gaming systems that have hundreds of weapons and tools listed from many different times and cultures. However, few gaming systems rely on accurate weapon data to develop such things (but there are some exceptions)

I think you are right. In the game that started this thread (NWN) the khuk has more or less the same stats as a similar sized dagger. This, of course, is completly untrue in reality.

The only game I know that uses accurate weapon data from LEO sources for combat and weapons mechanics is Cyberpunk. That also explains why it is such a lethal RPG. (i.e., ya get shot with a 12 ga. at point blank, ya gonna die.)

It is easier to gather data n modern weapoons for most, I guess. Lets face it - Unless you actually used a khuk and you write game mechanix, you're gonna F it up. (Of course, these are rarely historical based games as the fantasy variants have enchanted weapons or at least weapons of exceptional manufacture).

Haven't had time for RPGs or even wargames fer a decade, but Magic the Gathering is the best of both worlds and much more expedient. You can play 1on1 duels at about 5-20 minutes a pop, with bigger games (4-8) taking upwards of 45 minutes max. The quick fix fer those with the gamer gene.

Now that I'm talking about Magig: The Gathering, there are a few pix on the cards that do feature the khukuri. I'll try do dig up the pic.
