I was just reading a book by Wayne Goddard, who states that if the leaf spring was from a truck or other heavy duty vehicle, is thicker than usual, and shows a temper line after the quench, then it is probably a chromium-vanadium steel, as opposed to chromium steel. Wayne also states that 5160 won't show an appreciable temper line. So maybe HI khuks are 6150? There's a bunch of other spring steels out there too.
Just bored, waiting for the mountains.
