Khukuri and Survivor

Okay guys, no promises, but I want you all to look out for something special. About 6 months ago, per the suggestion of a customer, I faxed Survivor and asked them if they'd be interested in throwing a couple of khukuris on the set of their next show. Five minutes after sending the fax, I got a call from the assistant executive producer. He said he gets faxes all the time about people wanting them to use their products. He usually tosses them, but happened to be standing by the fax. He said that what caught his attention was the fact that I wasn't asking for ANY product endorsement or "payback." I offered to send him two khukuris, and he agreed. I told him that if he didn't use them, to keep them, as I had enjoyed his last series.

Well, I got a letter back saying that they might use them if they can fit them into the Australian theme.

So, no promises, guys. But watch Survivor The Austrailan Outback. If you see a khukuri on the show, it's a Gurkha House 15 inch AK or a SN1 (I sent several of both!).

That was too little information for a Swede.

If America sees khukuris being used...

Craig, I hope your meta tags are updated to keep 'em away from Ebay.

Sgt. D,

The Superbowl is only broadcast over one public channel. This year it's going to be CBS. So try to find CBS on your satelite dish or local cable provider when the next 'Survivor' series starts.

In the U.S. there are three major networks (on VHF):
ABC (American Broadcasting Corp.)
CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System)
NBC (National Broadcasting Corp.

There are also two secondary networks (broadcast over UHF):
Fox (20th Century Fox)
WB (Warner Brothers network)

Unlike Britain's BBC, these networks are all privaely owned and operated.
NBC is owned by General Electric
ABC is owned by Disney
CBS (I forget how CBS' ownership is set-up at the moment, help somebody...)

Most cities also have PBS (Public Broadcasting System) on UHF which has no advertising and is financed by the government and local viewers.
PBS primarily airs documentaries and how-to programs like cooking, painting, and home improvement.

Most cities will also have one or two other UHF channels which show re-runs and cartoons.

Ultimately,in most cities in the USA you've got 7-8 channels to pick from.

Of course it's a totally different world with cable or Digital/DishTV. I think I heard someone say that over DishTV you can get something like 250 channels (if you want to pay for all of them).

I'm not sure how Swedish TV works, but unlike Britain, we don't pay a 'Television tax,' so our programs are chopped up into segements with blocks of advertising shown during "breaks."

Thank you!
Now I might be able see it.
I do have cable, but not CBS and if I should order that I have to get a least fifteen other channels with non-interesting programs.
But my friend has a satelite-reciever and I know he watches CBS.

And we do pay televison-tax,160-170$ a´year. That only for three of the channels(I think),the other ones are filled with comercial. And no we can't un-chose these three channels,if you own a televison set you have to pay because you are able to watch these three channels.

best regards Daniel

Scott: Actually, it was a customer who suggested it. I just sent the fax, and got lucky. Though I do believe that everything happens for a reason. And NO promises that they'll actually use them on the set. But we can always hope and dream. :)

Scott: Email me off-line. Got some questions for you.

Well, no khukuris on the first episode

But we'll hope they find their way onto the set somehow

I guess I needed to pay $1,000,000 to get the khukuris into the "survivor pack" each team gets upon their arrival in the outback.
