Khukuri bayonet

This may not be news to some forumites, but maybe the unlikely SOURCE of the information will. I was going through some old papers in my study the other day, and I came across a DEAN, BATH & MOORE Militaria Arms & Armour sales catalogue (no date, but I think it must be about 20 years old). It was mail order catalogue # 1, and the address is given as PO Box 695, Greenpoint 8051, South Africa. It features 12 photograph plates illustrating various items of militaria for sale. On one of the plates there is a khukuri BAYONET. The socket seems to be quite large (like maybe for a Brown Bess?). I recall Uncle Bill telling us in Khukuri FAQ about there being khukuri bayonets. Unfortunately I don't have scanning facilities, nor do I have the skill to scan and post, so I can't post it here, which is a crying shame. But maybe the information is a bit staggering, that such an item was available for a collector to purchase sometime in the 1980's in South Africa. Or maybe not. Another photo plate illustrates a conventional khukuri for sale - looks much like one of the WW II models if I should judge... I wonder who got them, and at what price...

I just had to share this with you.

Hello, Johan

I have seen two of these lately at e-Bay, one with no marks (I think it is still availabile there) supposedly original, starting at US$ 100,00, and another marked "India"and sold as a replica starting for less than US$ 20,00. Both were made for the Brown Bess.
