Hi, first a little on how I got my first khuk.

I ordered a 16.5 WWII and it came yesterday!! I am now kewl...

It wasn't made by Bura like I first wanted, but Kumar's work is wonderful! I can't keep my hands off of the handle!!! :D

Makes my CRKT M16 folder look "lak puny guhrly mahn". :o

I was wondering how the angle of the blade helps when cutting? Someone might ask me about this and I wouldn't know how to answer...

Oh, and how do khuks compare to machetes and bolos? I've been wondering this forever.

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Cantina! I'm also in Colorado. Do a little reading in here and you will find all the info you could ever want!:D Khukuris are far better then a bolo and machete for most cutting tasks and more robust then both by far! As for the angle each one being hand made will be slightly different. I sharpen mine at about 20 degrees. Have fun!;)

P.S. Where do you train in Muay Thai? Last time I heard there were no schools in Colorado. Great Art!

chop - welcome to the cantina.

on khukuris and blade angles and such, you may find forumite Pen's 'Khukuri Dynamics' page (part of the Khukuri FAQ site) of interest:

AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! I'm so stupid I pressed new thread..

Uncle Bill will probably challenge me to an e-fight or something.. :o

I used to go to this little gym but it closed down. Now I train by myself in the basement and spar with friends (They're braek dance fightuhs ;) )

Thanks for the welcome. :)

The way the angle strikes means that the khuk will keep cutting through the whole stroke instead of just in one place as does any recurved blade.

Welcome to the Cantina.:D

Semper Fi's "welcome to the psycho ward."

He's just jealous cuz the voices don't talk to him.

Welcome.

It cuts, it chops, it slices. Ooops, sounds like a ginsu add.

Don't worry about Uncle getting mad at you. The anger management classes seem to be working ( we hope ).
