Bill;
Tell us about the various blade styles, where they come from in Nepal, and which of the Nepali use them for which tasks.

Floyd, there are so many I don't know where to start and I am sure there are some I have never seen or even heard about.

The picture that Cliff posted somewhere of the khukuri made by the kami who made the khukuri the farmer used to kill the bear is called a "Sherpa style" khukuri -- blade looks similar to the Salyan (our logo khukuri on our home page is a Salyan style) style but has a solid brass pommel and very heavy.

We offer the Sirupati (narrow blade favored by Rai and Limbus of Nepal), the Ang Khola (means forged spine in Nepali), sometimes a Tin Chirra (means three grove and is basically a double Ang Khola). Also we offer a Chainpuri which looks rather like a Sirupati but has an enclosed cho. And your little deer horn is a Dhankuta style. And there are some I can't think of off the top of my head!

Is this enough to get everybody thoroughly confused?

Here is the model I use for trimming my beard:

And here (top picture) is the bear killer khukuri (no longer offered):

(the other pictures are a handle getting drilled and a kami family)

I have others shots, I'll put them up later.

Cliff knows more about this stuff than I do.
Again, thanks Cliff for helping me do my job.

And, Floyd does one of those knives look familiar?
