Here is a scan of Foxjaw's first attempt at casting a replica/model of an actual khukuri. The original is a late 19th century Nepalese military khukuri. The copy captures all the details of the original except the very fine "Maya pyramid" cho. The copy was made with less than ideal materials which Brett had on hand. If he used better [read: "more expensive"] products the result would be an order of magnitude better. I find it hard to believe the kamis couldn't use a model like this to reproduce any historical khukuri. FWIW, I've promised Brett the use of any khuk from my collection. We're hoping Forumites might be interested enough in the idea to chip in to help with the cost of casting materials.
