Firstly, appologies if this has been covered before. Unforunatley the search function doesn't seem to like my browser and just sits there grinning at me with my search-term :(

After a recent discussion on another part of the forum I've pretty much decided on a 15" AK with a horn handle.

I've read pretty much every review thrust before me and the only 'issue' I've heard so far is of the handles occasionally being a tad too small. Now while I have rather small hands anyway (small palms and rather long fingers) I was wondering if any models have significantly longer handles or if it's luck of the draw?

Thanks kindly for any help or advice :)

Generally, up to a point, the longer the khuk the longer the handle; BUT:

individual variences- yes, and other patterns. I think the Movie Model and the UBE both have larger diameter handles. The chitlangi and chain have slender diameter handles with a pronounced bell shape, a swelling outward at the buttcap. I'm sure there's other generalizations I've left out.

I like the shorter more traditional handles with the wide butt end, but I can deal with the longer handles. Most of the HI ones I have have long handles, except the little Pen Knife and my M43, which are still plenty long for me.

If you place an order, you can ask to see if thee is a smaller diameter handle available. Or you can reshape the handle to fit your own hand. I've done both. However, if you order a blem you don't usually get a choice.

In general, it seems the longer the blade the longer and fatter the handle will be. I'm not sure why but it seems to be true.

As for the length of the handles, they generally tend to be the same length for each model. It varies a little though. For the 15" models one can put the thumb on the brass bolster if one finds the handle too short.
