Khukuri House

I have one and have nothing bad to say about it. I've had it for 2 years now and use it every summer, it's Great chopper for delimbing branches and such. I've dropped it on concrete (on accident of course) a few times, and the handle has a few hairline cracks. I've chopped the living crap outta it with hard, soft, and dry woods, and have batoned it quite a few times with no problems. The big bottom brass fitting at the back of the handle is somewhat loose (side to side, front to back is still solid) but the blade is still solid and has no movement. it holds a decent edge and holds it for a reasonable amount of time and it's easily sharpened with a stone.

I think you'll be very pleased with it.

coaldigger,

I have a similar experience as zephri.

I use mine - also a Jungle model - for gardening. Mainly pruning branches.

99% of the decent Khuk's on Epay are from khukuri house. I gots several, and they were cheap.

You can beat the heck out of them and they keep on chopping.

If the butt cap gets loose, like real loose, you can reglue it. I had to grind the tang down to remove the peening. Ground a tiny amount. Was able to remove diamond shaped piece and cap. You have to be real careful with the cap, it is very thin and you can bent it with your fingers.

I boiled out all the glue. Dropped the brass pieces in a pan of hot water and boiled them off.

Mixed up some two part epoxy in a Dixe cup, used dye to make it black. Poured that stuff in the handle, in the cap. pressed everything on. Lightly.

Wait till glue gets gummy and rub excess off. Once glue hardens you aint never gonna get that cap and diamond off every again.

Khukuri house khuks are a real bargin and chop well.

Thanks for the info guys, do you have any pics of your jungle model ? How was the finish on it when you got it ?

Blade surface finishing on the Jungle has a raw wire-brush finish.
If you polish it with metal polish; it would 'shine' bright like the service model.
