Not sure if this is in the right place or not.

Please look at the first few pics and help me ID the 2 Khukuri;

I have no clue on the first.

The second looks like a Khukuri House Thamel Service no.1

All help will be appreciated.

Scabbard is wood with brass bands.

Thanks Ron! Didn't know I could do that.

The one with the closed cho is a Chitlangi Khukuri. Closed cho and wide grip bottom are characteristics of this design.

I guess I'm looking for the importer/seller for the Chitlangi.
I can't find any online that look like the Chitlangi and scabbard in the pics.

The other one looks like a Khukuri House Thamel Service no.1

The name of the Kami would be nice but not necessary....

I am looking to acquire these and need as much info on them as possible.
Another BF member and I are in the midst of haggling out a trade.

So the seller is HI? For the Chitlangi?

Thanks for helping a noob in the realm of Khukuri.

Neither khukuri is a Himalayan Imports product.

The Chitlangi is a Khukuri House product.
The Service No1 is a khukuri probably made in Dharan for sale to toursists as the same thing that is issued to Gurkhas. It may or may not be crafted by or for Khukuri house.
While it is a tourist item, it is probably made of decent steel and properly hardened.

You wiil not find out what particular Kami made either of those.
Khukuri are not usually marked with what company made them or what Kami crafted them.
Only Himalayan Imports marks it's Blades with both to insure that the customer is getting a true H.I. product.

Karda, Thanks for all the info.

You are welcome, Cicatriz.
Feel free to visit the H.I. forum in the manufacturers section. There is lots of info about khukuris in general over there too.
The forum and forumites are wonderful and helpful and the atmosphere is laid back. Just be warned, once most people get into H.I. they never look back.

I defer to your knowledge about all things khuk, but isn't this a Chitlangi khukuri being sold by HI? It's towards the middle of the page:
http://www.himalayan-imports.com/new.html
http://yhst-7333098713883.stores.yahoo.net/chitlangi.html

I read somewhere that HI hired a couple of Kamis away from KH to make the Chitlangis.

add: I found an earlier discussion about HI Chitlangis. The Kamis are Jag & Prem and they were hired-away from HI. -or is this really old news?

It's old news CWL......
Just about all khukuri manufacturers make a Chitlangi model. It is just a style of khukuri originating in the Chitlange region
Of Nepal. The Sword of Shiva is distinctly Khukuri House. The H.I.'s is different. If it were made by H.I. it would be marked as such.

Thanks for all the responses.

I'm leaning toward seeing if I can get a finished Chitlangi blade without a handle so I can customize it to fit me.

Karda would that be possible?

Auntie Yangdu normally doesnt sell just blades. However sometimes she has bare blades from stock that has suffered cracking from the dry Reno air. It doesnt hurt to ask. Sometimes she will also have Blems listed at a good price which would work good for a rehandling project. You just have to catch them when posted on a DOTD (Deal Of The Day).
