thought you guys might like this... general design kind of changes with arm position, arm raised you get a kind of straight ube, arm held close to body you get a sort of m43 ganga ram combo , but overall i think it turned out nice. its two crossed 18" ang khola's, habaki, cho creap and all  :D . kinda wish i had putt light grainlines int he handles, but we left it as an outline for that reason. i still need to find someone closer that i can trust with color. cause i doubt my dream of getting it done in chicago will ever come to fruition...

the lines and curves are cleanerin person, the photo distorts them slightly

well done, very crisp and clean.
i vote for no color as well.
or, if you must, have it shaded with a little grey...

dannyinjapan asked me to post this picture, an example of how it could be incorporated into a japanese design.

as far as what id like to do with this tattoo in the future... if i cant find someone to make it look uber realistic - mirror polish and all, im probably going to try to come up with an art neavou pattern for it. the best of art neavou is something that has always amazed me, with how difficult it is to make it go correctly., and how much it brings forward the softer feminine aspects of a picture or design.

the attachments are 3 examples of me trying to acheive the flow of curves, with 3 different effects. one of them is sidways because i didnt want to make it 600x---, so you'll have to save and rotate it to see it properly.

the first one, the octopus with the crazy intecate desine around hime works... if you look at any given segment, you see an interesting flowing pattern, but as a whole, everything is lost to the main outline of the entire design. none of the patterns jump out at you, none of them are significant.

the longer design, with two octopus's in the corners is an example of how 3 or 4 patterns can intertwine without getting lost in each othyer, and its a design that im very proud of, but again, it leaves something to be desired as far as flow. its another one of those where you have to concentrate on individual peices to really get the effect of that specific design, but lacks something from a distance.

the third one, the single squid is the best ive done so far with getting curves to really come forward without getting lost int eh design from a distance. thats what id like to see with my khukuri tatto, to have the khukuries become a part of the whole, but to completely melt into it.

i'll see if i can get an example of an art neavou print that exemplifies the kind of design id like to see on this...

you have a gift, Seth....a good eye and an obedient hand. ;)

okay, i looked, and couldnt find anything that would specifically fit the crossed khuks design - but basically anything by mucha. ANYTHING. that man had a midas touch then never ended....

i deal best with slow tedius detail work :)

tedious stuff makes me go crazy....like I was on Rusty's & Yvsa's meds combined.... :D

man my work looks crappy compared to yours. i had no idea my slop would be hung up next to a damn rembrandt.

seriously though, Horiyoshi III does the best warrior tattoos in the world if thats your thing.
he is the master of the school that my artist belongs to.
i highly recommend you look at some of his work.
i dont think i would have any other kind of tattoo.

That's an awesome tat, Seth. Very cool indeed:) And here i thought my tat of a smiley face on my arm made me look tough:D.

As Seth has proven here!

Nice ink, grat design work. and we got to see the source of your avatar!

If you're ever in Indy, there's a half-dozen good tattoists I personally know. Jason Riggs, Geoff Downey, Trevor Patton are just the top few.

At one of the machine shops I worked in we had a smart assed tall and lanky long haired dirty blonde kid that worked there. He came in one Monday all proud stating that he had went to Arkansas over the weekend and got himself a tat. One of the guys asked him what he had gotten. The smart ass kid said, "Oh man!!!! It is Me!!!! I got the personification of myself."

At which the other kid asked him, "What did you get? An ass - hole?":D :p :D ;)

True story.:D

heehee. I've hear of someone being torn another one, but inked?
:D:D

Guy worked on my tattoist at a tat convention. What's that make us? ;)

i looked at that hyperspace gallery and those tattoos are all japanese style with western themes!

the shading, borders and backgrounds. man, i didnt realize just how far the japanese tattoo influence had spread. i knew it was getting popular....

Still, for me, there is nothing as good as a genuine Horimono. Also, nothing is as sexy as a genuine horimono on a japanese woman.
