I have inherited from my uncle a Khukuri knife .. it is 16 inches long probably 1.5 - 2.0 lbs it has the small knives and the sheath is wood covered w/ leather. The knife is at least 60 years old in perfect condition and has the original edge, It also has a brass lions head on the butt of the knife and is very heavy duty.. can anyone direct me to where i can identify??? i was told that the lions head is a sign of true Khukuri team from india, my uncle probably was givin this knife during ww1 or before help!! need to identify!!

If you post under either the Himalayan Imports Forum OR the Gurkha House Forum you should be able to get an answer from some very knowledgeable Khukuri experts!

These 2 forums are found under the Makers / Mfgrs category on the main BladeForums page.

A picture would help, but a clear description of the Khukuri in either forum should do the trick.

We actually have TWO forums where Khukuris are discussed. Himalayan Imports gets more traffic and more interest from "purists and Khukuri historians"...HI is actually based in Nepal, the owner runs the shop in Kathmandu. Bill Martino is the owner's son-in-law and acts as the US distribution and marketing arm.

So I'm going to move this whole thread there and lock it in the politics forum. If you go to the HI forum you and others will be able to post additional messages, but the version remaining in Politics will be closed.

Hope this helps,

Jim March
