Khukuri Knuts Konvention coming soon...

Just a reminder that the August 25 gathering of Khukuri aficionados will be coming up shortly in Reno, Nevada with most of the usual suspects in attendance. Uncle Bill will be available for prompt HIKV booster shots and an outstanding half time show, complete with Ghorkha bagpipe band to entertain the folks and Rusty and cast doing their version of the Khukuri Sutra with choji oil. Accomodations may be had whereever one can find good bargains, assuming you have money left over from khukuri purchases.

Well, did I miss anything?

Sounds like you covered the main points about the dates and the fact that everyone will find their own accomodations.
Still have no firm schedule but it looks like the Atlantis will be where we have a meeting room.

I will arrange for the meeting room, set up some kind of schedule, figure out what we'll have to charge and answer whatever questions I can.
The toughest part of any group grope is accomodations and that is being handled individually.
Security is up to the people who own the khukuris.
I still need to get back up there to check out a place for a picnic (and permits/reservations) if we decide on that, confirm the hotel space for ground zero, and finalize the agenda with Bill.
I look forward to meeting all of you whom I only know thru cyber space.

Will either of you kindly post the address of the Atlantis Hotel?

I am beginning to get ready to make arragements and that would be most helpful.
It may just be easier to pay a bit more and stay at the place where we are gonna meet.

We have our daughter in Phoenix checking out air fare from there to Reno. We have pretty much decided against trying to drive or ride due to me getting around physically when we get there.

Just found out it is $490.00 for 2 at the Atlantis for the 2 nights we want with air fare from Phoenix included in that. That would save us a lot of trouble.
We can always rent a car if needed for a day or two.

The address would still be nice to have though.

Just thought I would post the addy of the old khukuri Konvention thread.
There's info on it that some might like to refresh themselves about.

ie.
Jim March was talking about a shared bus ride and room and then others said something about sharing a room.

Oh and Rusty I may bring my sharpening gear for those sharpening challenged, But I ain't dancein' naked in front of everyone no matter how close to the Mustang Ranch things are.(VBESEG

Remember, the old highway that went thru downtown is still littered with motels and small hotels -- very reasonably priced. Saw a sign on the billboard of a small downtown casino last week -- rooms $19.95 Sun thru Thurs. Look around. You have the time.

Sorry guys, I won't be able to go. I'll be in basic training. I'll be there in spirit. I'm also sorry that I haven't been around, I'm very busy nowadays.

Does anyone know the name of a relatively inexpensive motel that is fairly close to where the gatherings will be held? Money is scarce and after paying for airfare I'm not going to have much left for accomodations. Thanks in advance for any and all advice/help.

Steven, everything is within a 5 or 6 dollar taxi ride. Or a bus for a buck The Atlantis is on So. Virginia, main surface street, no. and so., and buses go by every 20 or 30 minutes. Reno is a small town.
