I would like to pass on some observations regarding choosing a "first" khukuri. I have recently purchased 5 new khukuris to give away to people who don't own and never used khukuris.
I watch as I lay out brand new shiny blades. Everyone darn near gasps at the veiw before them.
A nice young lad of 24, well built, ju-jitsu practionor, choose a 20 " Sirupati, he never did stop smiling even when he drove away. A girl and my wife took horn handled BAS. I think the size and weight is better suited for the smaller frame. My neighbor who camps with his young son, choose my Becker Mach-Ax. I hated to give up an 12 year old friend.
I think it was the size, the smallest I had, plus the lighter, more conventional sheath.
My daughter in law choose a WW 11 with a horn handle for herself and young granddaughter. Perhaps for house protection and a wood chopper for the evening fires? My son of course a 20" Kobra. My 18" Ak I think is gravitating to my 14 year old grandson. He has my old Cold Steel ATC but his eyes told me something.
I have two more on the way for "give aways. I had to use my 20" Sirupati at work to get my truck through a road that had overgrown bushes and trees. The engineer watched as the 2" branches flew apart. I saw the look in his eyes, so one is going to him.
I guess I rambled enough for a Sunday morning. All the best to everyone in the Cantina!
