Just got a Himalayan Imports 18" Ang Khola Khukuri and have used it to delimb some branches and to chop up some deadwood laying around the yard.

It appears to chop very well but I have a question about sharpening it. I'm very new to sharpening and have only resharpened a few small knives using the sharpmaker.

Please tell me the best way to sharpen the khukuri and the type of edge I need for the type of use I put it to. Coarse edge or fine edge or does it even matter?

Many thanks for your help.

Post this question over in the HI forum under manufacturers and you'll get more sharpening advice than you need.

Get a fine polish for chopping. I use a small stone, 1x4", hold the khukuri with the off hand and generally work the stone over the edge maintain the curvature.
