I read the book: The Sharp End, by James Davis. He is a Canadian soldier who served between the late 80's to early 90's. He writes about purchasing a khukuri in Germany and carried it everywhere as a good luck charm. The khukuri described as 30 cm long (12"). The handle is featured in a few of his pictures, but the blade was not. A somewhat sad and depressing book up how our politicians affect the military. Also, it hightlights the positive aspects of our army.
Under UN rules the Canadains were limited in how much ammunition they could carry. In one incident Davis is concern about running out of ammunition. He mentions if it came to that he would come out swinging with the khukuri.
Hopefully Mr. Davis finds his way to the H.I. forum someday.
