Thanks for the info, Bill. Unfortunately, my wife & I have made plans for a vacation those dates. I'm afraid if I suggested a change of venue, she'd educate me in the use of a khukuri!

Please keep us informed of any other such events. I'd be particularly interested in any in NY/NJ/CT/PA.

Ok, Brian. Will do.

Master Ron Meekins who I notice will be instructing is one of my oldest Bando customers 10 or 11 years and became a great pal. He knows more Gurkha-khukuri stories than anybody I know. And he is one of the funniest guys I know, too. At 280 pounds with a khukuri in each hand he is a fearsome fellow.

If I were a hundred years younger I might attend myself.

Would someone with no martial arts training be totally out of place? 1966 Boot Camp was a long time ago and I break alot easier now, but would definately welcome the chance to simply meet Dr Gyi based on what you had previously told us of him.

Bagh dekki sau dhan!

Greg, I can assure you that you will do just fine. With your background and outlook on life you will fit into the Bando community like a glove.

And, bagh dekki sau dhan to you, too!

I will have to post that story, I know. Too many people will be curious.

I'm very disappointed about the timing of this seminar/camp. I can't make it due to a Range Safety certification class and Blade Show West is all on the same weekend!

However, I highly encourage anyone who can make it out to see Dr. Gyi to do so! He will not be around forever, the price is right and well worth the plane ticket. There is probably no one else alive with the amount of live blade experience he has, with the exception of possibly Grandmaster Leo Giron in Stockton, California.

Uncle Bill,
The secretary of the ABA put me totally at ease about the Camp. ABA appears to be a straight up bunch of guys. Possibly the spirit of the blade some of us have mentioned is simply kinship and good will? To meet Dr Gyi is a whole other topic...

Namaste to all

Greg

Greg, I have edited out the name of the ABA secretary as Bando rules do not like this information on the net for some reason of their own which I respect. I'm sorry to have to do this but I do not want to get any Bando person in trouble. I know you will understand.

Dr. Gyi and I used to keep in touch via mail but I think we are both too busy now to do much personal correspondence. He is a hero plus being a fine man.

I have only good things to say about the Bando people I know. Like any group they may have a few bad apples but if they do I have not met them.

I think it will be a winner. Dr. Gyi has me beat about 10 years in age so he will not be with us forever. Take advantage while you can.
