Hi Guys,

Through one of my contacts I have managed to get hold of a list of Khuk's in the Australian War Memorial's (AWM) collection.

They have 19 listed at the moment. The descriptions are mostly very simple with a little history about how it was aquired (if known).

There appears to be a mix of WW1 & WW2 relics amongst them. If there is any interest I will scan the list & get the info up.

Eventually I would like to try to find out more information about these and get the list at the AWM updated with some more meaningful data.

Cheers

Andre

ASh; There is another active topic called "Long parable (but good)" posted by Stephen Hamilton on this forum(same page as this one). I know Australian law has done away with all private ownership of firearms (except for a few government licensed indivduals), but have never heard ANYTHING
about your Knife laws. I would be acutely
interested in hearing the generalities of
such laws. Do they vary from state to state
or territory to territory? Please post a reply in the above mentioned thread

I am sad to report this but the man Mick Dundee's character was modeled after was killed in a shootout with the police earlier this year. I heard that in the mainstream news since he was somewhat of a celebrity.

All governments view themselves as "The Good Shepherd". I never knew a sheep herder who didn't have a sheepskin coat and a couple of good mutton recipes.

Sheep dogs control sheep by mimicing the behavior of...wolves. What we need are more wolfhounds, they don't give a damn about sheep, they just live to hunt wolves.

This may be the most rambling and disjointed post of the year. Sorry 'bout that.

Sounded pretty clear and to the point from where I sit, and well made, too.

This may be the best thing I've read yet on the internet! Thanks for the "pearls of Wisdom". If this is disjointed rambling for you I'd hate to hear your focused intent. Would be devastating for all in earshot! Much Gratitude......

Thanks Walosi and Finchatton. I just remembered why I looked at this thread in the first place. The museum part caught my eye. There is a Khukuri in the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio that was given to a WWII airman during the war. It is in a case of personal items donated to the museum by the family of the servicemember. I can remember looking at it in the case as a kid thinking how awesome it was. I know that if I had been flying the hump back then I would have sure been glad to have it whenever I looked down at all that jungle.

If anyone gets to the Dayton Ohio area, the AF Museum is an incredible place to spend the day. Sometimes I just wander around and soak up the atmosphere and it restores me just a little and gives me hope. One day we went over and there was some kind of special event and the Glen Miller orchestra was there playing. I stood in the aisle between a B17 and a Me109 and listened to that orchestra play and I will never forget how I felt and I will never be able to describe it as long as I live.
To everyone a happy Father's day.

It's late here, I think I'll get some sleep.

No counting sheep tonight though.

You all have a good night.
