Hey all,

I have a couple of ideas I'd like for a Custom piece of INFI and I'd like to ask a few questions.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get the knife made? I'm not going for anything fancy but the blade shape I'm eyeing is a combination of other blade shapes so that may come in to play.

What is the percent amount of money I have to put down to get the build going?

And finally, since some of you have had customs, can we see some pics?:D

Thanks,
Nick

I think KAAK has the correct answers but here goes.

1) 2+ year wait for a custom shop knife
2) Not sure - send large amounts of JWB in liew of downpayment
3) No customs here just a couple SHSH variants.

As far as pictures, I'm sure Skunk will have a drawer full to show us.

Skunk is my "Tom Watson" (golf professional) of knife collectors. What that means is in 1973 I played in the Western Intercollegiate Golf Championship and on the final day was paired with Tom Watson. When I saw him play I realized he was playing a different game than I was and that I had better get my butt in gear about getting some kind of degree that would earn me a living.

So when I see Skunks collection (and others) I just realize that collecting knives is just one more thing I’d never do any better than “Small College All American”. I’ll never be in the Skunk's league.:grumpy: Oh and that goes for drinking too. ;)

Cool. I was gonna give the shop a ring tomorrow but I thought I'd ask before I go to sleep. That way, I could dream up more ideas.

Ah, who am I kidding? I'm going to do that anyway. Thanks for the replies.

Mulder,

That SHSH with the recurve is damn cool looking!

randall knives cost about the same or less than a busse and they have a wide assortment of fighters and bowies.

Tony,
You are lucky to have learned this lesson early in life. I am sure we all know folks who never get the picture...ever. Like Clint said in "Sudden Imapct" (I think), "A man's got to know his limitations." Kudos to you, sir!

I'll have pics in a few years :) I have 2 slicers and a moab coming to me someday.... I placed the order sometime in mid 2006. So I'm probably 1/6th-1/8th of the way there :D

Mmmmmmm, MOAB........

I'd like to get a big custom but I'm going for what will basically be a combo of the Bad Apple and Bandicoot with a bigger, 5"-ish blade. There's more to it but that sums it up pretty well at this stage.

I'm waiting to see what's coming next though. If it's something like the BATAC or Tank Buster then plans may change.

the other 2 are a choiless 3rd gen handled slicer, with finger grooves and a thin grind; and a "thin as you are willing to make it, it will never be used for anything but cutting" choiless satin jack tac.

you could always get a BATac without a choil, a higher grind, a lower grind, a thicker steel, or a different handle :D ooh, a BATac with a SF handle :D
