Are there any other kids out there that make knives? I am 15 and have been making them for about a year and a half now. I'd love to see other people around my age making them. Ill post a few pics of mine below. Whether you make them by stock removal or by forging, I'd love to see them (I do both). :D

My current edc i made from a file and cocobolo-

The only knives I carry are the ones that come out of my shop.

I am 13 and I make knives from 0.125 01 carbon steel. I do stock removal with a benchgrinder, belt sander, dremel, and angle grinder.

Here's one I gave away in the PIF thread.

A Mora I converted to full tang and maple scales. See this thread:http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...and-custom-handles-promised-in-the-PIF-thread

Some that I have made/WIPs.

Filework:

I also make G10 and wood handles for production knives.

I try to make knives as a fun hobby for myself when I get time. So far I mainly have blanks but have more materials coming to make some custom scales for production knives.

That is a great start you guys, I did the same when I was your age but I had trouble keeping up with it. If you keep going at it you have a promising future even as a hobby!

Any of you young men that live in the LA, Santa Monica area are welcome to contact me if you would like to come by my shop and learn a little about how to make a fixed blade full tang knife & handle?

I can help get you started as long as its OK with your parents of course.

Only if I lived where it was nice and warm outside everyday, I wouldn't mind going out to my un-heated shop... I wish I could go to your shop though :)

My business partner and I are 18 and 17, respectively. I cant post pictures right now but we've got a couple up in the for sale section.

15 over hear and have been at it for around to years! Here's the last one I finished up, in 3V and green micarta. I'm not planning on ever going full time (although I do dream about it) but I hope I can continue doing it just for fun. Good to see some other young guys here, keep it up!

16 here! I've made a few knives around 20 or so. I don't have pics though because most of my early knives are of such poor quality and the rest I made as gifts for my friends. Just on the fly, anyone else get weird looks when you tell people you make knives as a hobby? I guess it looks weirder when you're a high schooler.

That's a great offer and I'm sure a stand up guy and a great craftsmen as well but that sounds a little sketchy hahaha. No offense but there's no way my parents would go with that. "Hey Mom and Dad, can I go somewhere in Santa Monica to a guys workshop and make knives? No it's cool. I met him on the internet." Again I'd love to actually stop by, but perhaps maybe create a class or business to help people get started on knife making. So it seems a little more legit and less "Get in the van." I hope I didn't offend you that's just what I'm thinking.

The only people that don't give me wierd or funny looks are the guys at gun/knife shows, cabelas knife counter, or my family but even sometimes certain people in my family give me looks. To me, making knives is no different than making a model cars.

I think my family looks at me especially weird. Guess they didn't expect this kind of hobby.

Gary,
I am sure that there is a local knife maker group in Michigan that would let you come to a meeting and watch. Also I can't speak for him, But Randy Haas is a maker in your area and his young sons work with him.

Randy could tell you where a meeting of knife makers is locally if he isn't able to help.

Impressive work from all you guys! Good to see the next generation of knife makers coming up.

Blade needs to do an article on you guys.
