Well, this type of thing doesn;t happen often here, but it happened to a mother and daughter feb 29 2012,he kidnapped his ex girlfriend and her mother, with intent to do more than kidnapp. He was caught 200 miles away after the mother got free of the duct tape he used to bind her hands, then she got the emergency kit in the trunk by folding down the section of the rear seat, she used a small folding lockblade bucklite to stab the kidnapper in the neck several times, this caused a 3 car pile up ,but nobody was injured in the accident. They caught him and the mom and daughter are doing great, she will have NO charges against her for stabbing him,he won't be seeing the light of day for the rest of his life. This isn;t his first offence, but it will be his last.Imagine if she had a 110 instead of a small bucklite.

Too bad she did not find a Buck 124 it would have cut his neck in half with the first stab! Now he will get 3 hot meals a day and a bed and all of the benefits of prison when he should be in the ground!

Buck 124 on the left vs Bucklite 424 on the right.

Its the knife that you have with you that counts.

I am thankful for the women's happy ending.

Like I've always said, "the best knife you can possibly have, is the one you have on you when you need one"

I bet mom (and daughter) just love that Bucklite, now.

This thread inspired me to wonder.......what would I find in the trunk of MY OWN car????

A fair selection of weapons, it turns out.

:D

Wait. Hold on. Let me get a pillow for my head. OK.

There are cars, and they have trunks, in the hundred acre wood!!!

Gonna have to read those books more closely. :)

I have cans of tire inflator......

Just another example, that its what you have on you (or near you) that counts. Good thing he survived, so he can see the years pass by, while he rots in jail.

Great story. Well, horrible story with a good ending. Can't believe people sometimes.

Any links to the news story?

He'll be spending each day learning what it's like to try dealing with "unwanted sexual attention" backed up by threats of physical violence.

And I thought Canada was such a peaceful country. I lived in Vancouver one year when the locals were so upset that the annual murder rate spiked from 3 in one year to 6. Gone are the days... Oh well...

Like others have said, the best knife is the one you have when you need it. And as parbajtor pointed out, the other boys will take care of him.

Canada should have blocked American television.

They are becoming more and more like America.

Kinda too bad.

Next thing you know......they'll be carrying enough weapons in the trunk to outfit a small street gang.

:D

TV may have something to do with it too, but I think the trafficking of drugs in Vancouver has a lot to do with it.

Benefits of prison are highly overrated by those without experience.

Is there a link to this story? Maybe more than one?

Resourceful lady, that mom.

For what it's worth, the current Idaho driver's manual actually recommends keeping a knife in the car for emergencies.

Now, the current wording is "pocket knife" but I prefer an earlier wording that was a little more general in its suggestion.

In my own car, if you start rooting around, you're going to find way more than a "pocket knife" in this or that compartment, and the emergency box is home to all kinds of cutlery (axe, folding saw, bait knife, Opinel #12, stuff like that). Yes, there's a genuine "pocket knife" in the glove box (a SAK, as it happens) and in the center console (sodbuster), but there's also a Buck Short Revolution, a Mora knife, and a couple of others.

What you won't find lying around in the car, though, is the indomitable will to live.

You have to bring that with you.
