I have been seeing a few posts here and there of people talking about their grandkids or kids, how the child has a knife, or maybe the child is a little older and bought grandpa a knife etc.

I am definitely trying to get my two Granddaughters into knife collecting and using.

My youngest granddaughter came to me one day excited to show me her knife. She was about 5 at the time, but she had noticed grandpa's clipped on knife in his pocket, so she had found a pair of fingernail clippers and had them in her pocket such that the handle acted as a pocket clip to hold the clippers in her pocket.

She came to me and told me to look at her knife! It was cute and I was sure I had a new knife buddy for life!

When I originally posted the above picture, John sent me a Spyderco knife that his daughter had used for training, it was ground so there was no edge. He asked me to give the knife to Emily. She loves that knife to this day!

For her birthday this year, grandpa bought her a Victorinox with her favorite covers, CAMO!

I would be pleased to see other's pictures of their kids / grandkids with their knives - or just the stories if there are no pictures or you don't want to post pictures.

Closing, here are John's little cuties holding my DBH, which was at the time being constructed.

Great pics, thanks for sharing. My oldest son appreciates nice knives but not quite to the level I do. My baby boy though shows a lot more interest and he's only a year old. If he hears me opening the gun safe he comes running then stands wide eyed staring while making these unbelievably cute little sounds. I can't lay a knife within his grasp or he has it in a second. I've let him grab a couple that locked securely into a sheath just to watch him sit and turn it over and over until the wife makes a not-little and not-cute noise signalling the end of our fun.

Way to go mqqn. That's so cute about her using the nail clippers. Looks like you have a great knife buddy for life.

Here's my boy practicing with his Mora Scout Classic that he won in a giveaway along with a bunch of other gear:

Seeing her excitement at getting it going makes a daddy happy.

Very cool, Andy, thanks for sharing

I've been working on getting some knife friends of my own to!

Sam's interested, he has his very own knife, a SAK I got form John at a gathering actually, and he put one of the key fobs Outdoorsfan made for the box passaround on it. Now he asks when he can have his second knife :)

I try to encourage it with yearly pumpkin carving which he enjoys

and I make sure to introduce a range on good knives while we do that

He's always been interested in hatches and hawks as well, here he is trying out the JK belt hawk

My mouse hawk is now "his axe"

He enjoys working with tools and always wants to help me in the work shed when I'm doing handles, I've given him a number of projects (there are lots of places to hang jackets in our house) and he seems to enjoy it

I found him putting his toys down on the stump outside one day, taking a picture of them, I was confused until I realized he was copying what I do with my EDC pictures

Iris got started early,

and...

I have high hopes, but she's still a little to young for one of her own :( and don't take pictures with her on my arm anymore :p

She does help out where she can though, including the raffle this December

One last picture

Cute pictures!

Thurin - AWESOME - you gave me an idea - the next time the girls are over we are going to do a little fire starting with a fire steel.

I can anticipate the girls wanting their own fire kit. ;^)

Peter - always enjoy seeing your pictures of the children - you always have fun with them -

Here is my girl, she is a daddy's girl and wants to handle knives since I am using them but I don't think she is quite ready. I keep my knives locked up in a Husky tool box to be safe. I will for sure get her one when I think she is ready. She is turning 3 the 18th of this month

No pictures, but all of my grandkids have a Buck 110, made the year they were born, and three of them have the old model Victorinox Soldier, from the year they were born (none for Emily, they quit making them) Jon also has an early Nessmuk, and the Camp 8 I made him for graduation. Becky and Angie carry Victorinox Classics on their keychain, and Alison has a great collection of old Benchmades, including every model and variation of the all titanium Pinnacle model.

These pics are great, thanks for sharing them. Sadly, I don't think I have any pics of my boy (now 19) with a knife. I guess I never converted him to one of the masses. He doesn't take an interest in knives like me, but he does carry a folder mod I did for him at graduation.
