i wanted to go on an overnighter this weekend but work got me super tired and ended up waking late...ended up breaking in the all-titanium stove in the backyard - ghetto style! 1 lb 6 oz total including the carrying case but not the gloves (the chimney length is for a supertarp).

know the behavior of the kind of wood you're burning...when i took this pic literally several pea-sized chunks of coal popped out and hit my foam pad i was sitting on, burning a few spots...so if you have wood known to pop embers, keep your sleeping bag away a good 8" or so before opening that door to toss more wood in.

not sure if the snow platform needs the threads on the legs too so i put tape on it to protect it from damage just in case.

very efficient burn - after the startup i didn't see any smoke anywhere including the chimney...should be awesome for drying my socks too (i've burned a couple with a normal camp fire).

didn't have time to let it die down completely but it's just as efficient as an emberlit.

I was really hoping you would do a review on this. Can I ask what the damper is? I constantly see it referenced, but I don't know what is? (And I apologize for the silly question).

no problem at all! the dampers are those flaps that goes up and down in front of the screen (in the pic the left side is fully closed and the right is fully open) that regulates how much air can get in which slows or speeds up the burning of the fuel. this is my first stove of any kind so i don't know how big a difference they make but i'll experiment and report back if i notice any big difference between open and closed.

They make a big difference on wood heaters, when I was a kid I would fill our heater up with wood before bed close them off and it would still be burning coals in the morning, forget to close them and nothing but ash(and a sore ass).

I have to say I really dislike the wire, its just an accident waiting to happen ripping clothing or getting someone in the eye. I would twist the ends over for an inch or so, if it did poke someone in the eye its far less likely to cause serious damage. From what I can see it would still fit easily though the holes.

Thank you so much for the explanation, to both of you! Makes perfect sense now!
