Great news for fans of Matsuda-San's knives, he is now making folders! Not SOG made, but full on Matsuda heavy duty quality knives.
I just bought prototype #5, check it out! Quality throughout, flipper, IKBS, OU-31 steel, titanium, his signature acid disruptive pattern on blade and titanium grip. Very nice!

That knife has a VERY mid-tech look to it, the handle does not say "custom" to me, it says "very good machine shop".

Nice looking knife, overall, though.

That all meshes together so well, except for the silver circles on the pivot. I think it would be better if they were anodized too, but aside from that it's incredible!

You just described a huge portion of the tactical folder market.

I'd like to see a more Eastern style handle design.
A very nice knife, tho.

That really is gorgeous. Where did you purchase it? I just bought a KM-340 from JKD, and I haven't seen any folders on there over the last two weeks while I was considering what to buy.

I bought it from Blade Connection in Kirkland, Washington. This is a really great knife shop with great people and an excellent selection. The store is called Epicurean Edge at the brick and mortar storefront as they have many high end it hen knives; you can google that name and select the blade connection tab for tactical or custom knives or just go straight to bladeconnection.
Michael, the owner, is a blade smith and does very nice culinary knives, many in conjunction with Japanese blade smiths. He has a strong connection with Kikui Matsuda and sells many of his knives. He received a number of his first folder prototypes of which mine is number five. He does have number one if you are feeling spendy.
He hadn't posted the folders online when I bought mine but he said very soon so you can check, the "new this month" link will have them when posted. You can call them as well, very helpful store.
Good luck, I love mine, it is high quality throughout - smooth action, solid lockup, nice ergos and that fantastic Kiku blade he is famous for. The blade almost effortlessly pushes through cardboard. My other fixed Matsuda blades are nearly indestructible and I expect this is an equivalent folder.

KM-340 is nice, if not menacing! Lots of steel on that one. I have a Backup Neo, Swat Short and a one-of-a-kind prototype I bought from Matsuda-san at the Seattle Blade show

Another nice feature of this knife is the steel insert on the end of the frame lock not only protects against wear, but it includes a tab that acts as a lock bar stabilizer for over travel protection. I haven't seen it dine that way before. Only feature ai could want additional on this knife is a lock bar stop like the Lionsteel design. I really like that, lets you lock the knife in the open position. The LAWS system used by CRKT dies similar for liner locks

looks really sweet. Kinda reminds me of Neil Blackwood's work, who's one of my faves.
