Kill Devil carry options?

Hey all!

Just picked up my first Rat in a KDSH in the recent Ganza. I have been racking my brains on how I should carry it. I know there are kydex makers that add tek loks for belt carry or PALS webbing... But I don't think I want something this heavy hanging off my belt. I also won't have any webbing on me when heading out in the bush. All my thoughts keep bringing me back to the idea of some kind of baldric setup - A basic leather sling and loop to carry it by my side and under my arm. The dilemma? It kinda screams 'mall ninja' to me but at the same time it still seems like a simple and practical solution.

What do you use? Have you seen a good baldric setup for a hawk? Would love to hear some opinions.

Here is my pair:

55 views and no comments? I don't bite dudes!!

Here is one I saw recently that seems like a good option (not my photo):

Mate, this leather set looks good.

But I'd say get a kydex sheath for it. Each eyelet is an attachment point, and you can easily rig a baldric set up with paracord, webbing or leather. You can also ask for a "Y" drop loop for attachments instead of tek-lok...

It sure looks the goods! I am thinking of trying to make something similar...

Kydex sounds good too, just trying to think of a way to connect it to myself in the absence of webbing. Not really keen on paracord baldric.

I put this elsewhere but ill put it here to for ya. This is how im going to carry it now.

Waiting on this sheath now... Azwelke hooked it up!.... Those paracord colors are messing with my eyes lmao but the sheath is great.

I have found i dont care for tek-lok on my belt, But do like the option of connecting them easily to straps on my bags. SO this one has a leather belt loop, and is also set up for tek-lok so i can change it out depending on the event. Another thing i found i didnt care for the mashed cat design is The tek-lok on it can not sit flush, so it doesnt sit straight on the belt, it kind of leans out a little. But this one has been made for the tek-lok to sit flush in the in the middle of the sheath and all 4 screws can be used to secure it tight. And then there was re-sheathing... when im throwing my hawk i like to be able to sheath, un-sheath and re-sheath easily and quickly. And on the one i have now i would have to slide the spike in a little first then push the head up, not hard at all, just not very quick without using force. Well on this one Azwelke flared the back ends of the sheath so that the hawk could go in with more ease. And the sheath still holds the devil in nice and tight with no rattle!!!

Now this sheath is perfect for going throwing! And this hawk was made to fly! A great combo :)

Great job Al, Thank you!

Tandy Leather (Minto NSW) has both leather and bolts like those used to attach tek-lok, just a bit longer. You could bolt kydex to a leather baldric.
Just mentioned paracord as I have seen baldric made of it in the style of the paracord 'survival bracelets. And it could be used just to attach things...

I was actually hust thinking that myself... Good call mate ;)

I might need to see what I can come up with using a mixture of kydex and leather.

Oh man we are being overthrown with the Aussies :)

You should come on over to Rat Chat, you'd fit right in!

Thanks guys! Now that I have some tools, I will definitely knock out a few more knife sheaths and things.

I said it over there, and I'll say it over here .... Well Done Mate! :D Please keep it up!

I deal a lot in Australia, if you ever need anything you cant get there, gimme a holler. :)

Thankyou guys!

My friend bought an SFNO so I think I will have a crack at that next :)

Cheers leatherman! Quite a compliment coming from you... And thanks for the kind offer.
