It's not the greatest, but it works.
Once I get my hands on some of these orbital sanding pads (

The hollow paracord on the butt of the handle fills in the spaces and lifts your hand away from those points a bit. It's not ideal, but it works ok for the time being.
My final solution is to put some spherical magnets on either side of the lanyard hole. These 1/2" ones should fit pretty snugly in the cut out, and I love magnets.

After measuring the edge last night I considered thinning it more today. After doing some chopping however, I like it where it is.
You can get a lot of lateral force on the edge pretty easily, and I can remember the edge of my Regulator rolling on tree bark when taken down to .015"
This branch is 3" thick, and took me 30 strikes to get through. Not so great, but I love the way the Zilla feels when chopping.
The grip is smooth, but my hand isn't going to slide off either. I also appreciate that it's thick enough to give it a proper death grip.
This is a 1.25" bite into semi soft wood.
(Five strokes total for this branch)
