I was playing with an RMJ hawk last night, and really liked the tanto-esque profile of the spike. It has far more penetration potential than the square blunt end of the KD hawk. So, I decided to copy it, and regrind the spike on my KD to sort of match it.

It still needs a bit of cleaning up with finer belts because I just used a worn 24 gr ceramic belt to get here. I'll square the grinds up a bit with the platen rather than the slack belt I used last night as well. But the proof of concept works. You can see a light test swing into the 10ga mild steel behind it, and it penetrates VERY well now with no blunting or damage at all to the spike. After I re wrap my handle, I'm going to see if I can get it through in one good swing.
What do you guys think?
