My g-shock just fell apart. Deet from bug repellent is most likely the culprit.

Pretty pissed as i've had it for 10+ years, one of my favorites!

I've used this watch for everything... camping, fishing, snowboarding, hiking, outdoor shooting courses, competitions, etc...

I'm looking for a new outdoor watch, any suggestions?

I have some expensive watches that i wouldn't use due to fear of damage.

Another G-Shock! Maybe one of the newer ones with a steel case and bracelet... still a G-Shock!

Since I fish and camp allot Deet safe is very Important. G-shock's are awesome but if you use allot of bug spray the watch will melt :( looking at other options that aren't resin.

If you do not mind analog the Bertucci watches are awesome, the Titanium ones are really light weight and really strong. The bars that hold the one piece nylon strap are built into the watch. The crown is offset at an angle to avoid hitting your wrist and they are really light weight. If you want the digital then G shock's are great watches or the Timex Iron man's aren't bad.

Get an ALL-metal G-shock!

After about 4 - 5 years hard use, the resin in mine cracked and I had to get a replacement for it (model G-101). Metal-cased G is next.

Get another G Shock and remove it prior to applying the DEET. Put it back on when you are finished and it should last quite a long time. I've run into similar problems, and by doing this, my watches have not suffered from the melting effects of the DEET.

Geeze...If Deet is melting your watch, I wonder what it is doing to your body?..

No doubt. I hate the stuff. It's killed a number of my watch bands over the years. Never lost a whole watch though. Personally, I'd go with the Mudman if you want something similar to what you originally had.
