Killing myself for the sake of science aka stupidity and boredom. :)

If you took those ear rings out then that would be 5 pounds gone instantly :D

Yes yes Jeff. I know. I'll never forget when you figured out who I was in person. You said, "aw shit... I'da never sent you all that free stuff if I'da known ya had so many damn earrings." lol. You take off your child moletser mask and I'll take out the earrings.:D

A balanced healthy diet, plenty of sleep and plenty of exercise will yield good results.
Just getting rid of beer, sugar and high fructose corn syrup can be down right miraculous.
Good luck, whatever you do.

I'm on a "diet" as of last night, when I had my blood pressure taken. Not good numbers at 30.

I want to loose about 20 or 30 pounds and see what that does to my numbers before I go to a doctor and consider medication.

Last night for dinner, I had a salad and some sushi and today I've had an apple, some of my wife"s homemade apple amish bread and a small hunk of steak and a meatball for dinner. Drank water and a glass of milk all day.

I did have some chocolate, gotta have a few indulgences.

I'm cutting way back on carbs and eating more fruits and veggies, keeping my meat intake about the same.

No exercise today. I was supposed to go kayaking but my brother dicked me and didn't get out to do anything else.

That'll change tomorrow.

But my child molester mask and clown suit work so well together!

I lost 22 KG in 6 months myself, and 32 in total.
I gained 22 since then back though.
I started again, lost 4 KG and want to loose another 10 KG. (I was to light before)
I did not exercise much at all.

If you want my advice:
Keep it realistic, if you want and go to fast, you may not be able to endure.
See it as a half year/4 months project. And don't loose more then 1 KG a week, otherwise you burn muscle as well.
Also don't just go dieting but change your eating habits. That way when you are finished , you already know and are used to eating properly.
I had trouble with that last part, hence I gained back a lot of the weight.

To the OP.
I think you are insane. :o

Good luck with your experiment.

It's funny that I should read this now because I'm fasting for a few days. A few days ago I thought its been a long time since I felt truly hungry. When I was 20-21yrs old I only ate one meal a day, consequently I weighed 8 stone 10lb. At 32 I weigh about 13 and half stone.

So, I figured I'd just drink water for 4 or 5 days. I'm not working this week so it doesn't matter if I feel a bit tired. Religious people fast from time to time so it can't do me any harm.

I read it takes 4 days for the body to go into keetosis, where the body turns to stored fat for energy. If you eat more than 800 calories a day your body won't go into keetosis. After your body starts the process of keetosis the headaches stop and you have "normalish" energy levels.

Most people can go a month without food, some fat people can last longer.

I swear this is true, I'm not bulling you. A couple of weeks ago there was a program on BBC2 about obesity and skinny people. It said there was a Scottish man who was hugely fat, like 40 stone or something, under medical supervision he stopped eating and only took vitamin tablets. He didn't eat for a year and lost half his body weight.

I'm sure you're all aware of this but if all you had to eat was rabbit you would die in two weeks. Rabbit has virtually no fat and the process of digesting it strips the body. Strange but true.

Still goin strong guys. One thing to keep in mind is that I'm not really doing this to lose weight. Originally i was just going to go on a diet to lose weight, but then I had the idea to do this. What I'm doing now is really just trying to find out what the minimum is that I can take in and still function at a normal energy level and stay active. The situation I'm simulating is actually worse than most real life situations. in a real life situation, in most parts of the world, you could find more food than what I'm letting myself have.

I would like to add a few more remarks on this. This has been called 'rabbit starvation' and it is believed that eating only lean meats is detrimental to your health because:

- since there are no fats in your diet, you cannot get replenishments of the fat-soluble essential fatty acids (omega 3 and omega 6);
- proteins cannot provide enough calories for the body in harsh environments (such as when the climate is cold or when you are in a stressful/survivalist situation);
- the ammonia produced when breaking down proteins is toxic to the body and must be removed by taking in enough water, otherwise it won't be converted to urea.

So, even when you are experimenting in a simulated survivalist situation you still have to eat fat. Just mention this in case you become too venturesome...:)

Don't worry. I'm not testing the Rabbit Starvation claims. I do have alittle bit of fat in my diet.

I have a ton of fat, but it's not in my diet.:D

I fell off the wagon a bit last night. It was my little girls first birthday dinner and her Yaya took her to Red Robin. I had a salad, which was OK, but my wife and I split an order of chilli cheese fries.

I could be wrong, but I think there might have been some fats and sodium in them.

Yeah... just a little bit. lol. My wife keeps trying to go all Ad Rock and knock me out of the wagon with a wiffleball bat. Last night she tried to talk me into grilling cheeseburgers. I said, "You do realise that I'm trying to do something here, right? I have a strict starvation experiment to stick to." She says, "Well hurry up. I want cheeseburgers."

That's the worst part for me, I still have to cook for my girls and wife. Tough to grill a nice T-bone and then come in and eat a salad.
