Because for some reason, I had bought every old butcher knife at every gragae sale for the couple of years. So Ive been trapped in the house a bit more than usual so I decided to try to transform an old butcher knife into something a bit more usable. its pretty rough but its keeping my mind off of other stuff.

I should of gotten a pic before I started grinding away but this is pretty close to the start.

The old carbon butchers are a lot of fun to play with. I pick them up whenever I can as well.

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Interesting that it had very little corrosion underneath the scales after all these years.

Have fun, and it will be fun for me to see what you do with it going forward.

there was actually a lot of rust and pitting under the old handles. Yes I was going for a kepheart look but its much harder than it looks to grind out a blade like that than one would imagine. And thats why there is professional knife makers like JK!

Looks like a fun project. I used to regrind old knives, then I started grinding knives out of old power hacksaw blades, and look what happened!

Hey Joel,I've been wanting to do a mod to an old hickory too.
Someone here did one very similar to that a while back, more pointy though iirc.

Looks comfy,is that Osage?(love Osage)

Yep Ky its Osage, and its my favorite, I can mess it up and it forgives me and its pretty tough stuff. Well this is about as finished as I need it to be to get some good use out of it.

Turned out nice!

I can see the thread in 100 years here on BF - "What is this and how much is it worth??"

Interesting knife - thanks for posting your refurbish pictures.
