I've been carrying a Kimber lifeact (aka "Jet Protector", "Dogshock" and "Guardian angel") for years, but never fired a unit until today in my garden, just to try it out. I fired from 1.5-2m distance. I used a shovel as my taget (as big as a head) and both shots were a hit. The target got the full load! That stuff is nasty I tell ya! I don't want to get a shot into my eyes, that's for sure!
If you take the time to figure out how to hold and aim it, it's pretty easy, because the design makes sense. I don't know why the guy in the promo video nearly missed... You can hold it like a pistol (use both hands! Your other hand can hold a flashlight if necessary!) and aim it instinctively.
It's still pretty expensive in the USA - here in Europe a unit costs only half as much. (20€)

With my empty unit, I can practise drawing, aiming and pulling the trigger even better now.

If you can't carry a gun and think pepperspray is not reliable enough, try a Kimber lifeact. It conceals easily, has a clip, is flat (which makes it easier to carry than a pepperspray) and very lightweight, so you don't have an excuse to leave it at home, summer or winter. I think the design is superior to a spray can - you can't grab it in a wrong way!

I'm getting more units for shooting training. (multiple targets, different distances)

What are your experiences? What do you think about the Kimber lifeact?

I looked at a Kimber Lifeact at the sporting goods/ gun store. They run for $39 locally, and the demo model felt pretty good in the hand. I was sort of shocked when I noticed that it was made in Switzerland. I don't own one, but I would definetely consider one, if carrying a spray for defense was necesary.

I think it would be smart of them to make a training model- that was colored and marked dustinctly to differentiate it from the real deal, and capable of using inert dye or something (that could be replaced).

IMO, this product deserves it's "made in Switzerland". The quality is suberb and I've never heard about a failing unit.
I know, it's a disadvantage that you can't refill a unit. It makes things easier in a stress situation (you know that it's loaded!), but for training, it kinda sucks. Too bad it's so expensive in the USA. At first it did cost 40€, until they changed the price to 20€.

I must say, I'm impressed how rugged it is. I've really been carrying it for years, it was riding in my jacket pocket in winter, in my sweaty trousers in summer, I dropped it, I had it in my rucksack with all the stuff flying around in there and it never showed any damage. I like that the system is not under pressure. It works like a pump filled with water, propelled by a blank cardridge. That's why it's so reliable and it can be left in the hot car in summer.

I looked on their website and they do make a training model that is a different color and shoots inert dye. It is also $10 cheaper.:p

So, if the contents are fired by a blank cartridge then could the spray inject itself into your XXXX if it went off in your front pocket?

It looks like a serious device.

Like I said, I carried it in my pockets for years and it never went off in my pocket - and the european version (wonder if it changed...) doesn't have the trigger safety. I'd dremel it off, it's not necessary.
The trigger is "double action only". I think it's as safe as it can get for a device that handles simple enough for SD situations.

I won't say it's the best pepperspray on the market, but it's my favorite. Everyone has to decide that for himself.

I improved my jet protector with skateboard-tape on both edges (visible on the picture), so it won't get slippery when it gets wet. I recommend trying it out for yourselves, you might like it.

Sorry just wanted to clarify... it offer two single shots, or is it a doulbe wammy from one pull of the trigger?
