Looking to purchase a Kimber Tactical. Has anyone here had any experience with one? I owned a Kimber Classic about 10 years ago and loved it. The Tactical is a little pricey but looks like a great full frame..

oops misunderstood the thread the only Kimber I own is a 22 long rifle.

Just FYI. The newer kimbers don't have as nice a reputation as your older kimber. In ~2000 Kimber introduced series II guns with a firing pin safety connected to the grip safety. I've never had a problem with mine some people have. Some people like me don't like it from a "why add extra parts when it works just fine the way it is" viewpoint

Thanks for the info Chickenfried! I will do a bit more research and maybe get an older Kimber..The 22 has got my attention!! That would be a smooth shooting little plinker ;)..

I plan to get out and shoot some clays in the morning..its been about a year so I imagine a lot will get away.. ;)..

Kimbers have a nice following, but I can't get past the made in Yonkers, NY stamp. Gives me the creep, i.e. (clinton, shumer)

I've Carried A Tle2 For 2yrs.every Day On Duty And Absolutely Love Mine Incredibly Accurate And Dependable,i Trust It With My Life Every Day.

I've got a TLE and TLE II. Both are fine guns if you dig 8 rounds of .45.

Originally they chose an external extractor and after 4 different unreliable designs they went back to an internal extractor. Make sure you get an internal extractor !

i love kimbers and currently shoot a warrior (not a warrior II). great gun.

but i agree with chickenfried. their quality control in the last couple years is not what it once was. not to discourage you, but dont be totally surprised if you have some fit and finish issues that lead to malfunctions.

i had a tle rl II that had a poorly machined trigger and wouldnt reliably reset. we had to file down a huge piece of metal that was the result of poor quality control to get it to fire reliably.

last month a fresh out of the box warrior II had the saftey spring break after one mag.

but, another guy i know bought a cdp pro, and after a little breaking in, its been a champ.

the custom shop guns seem to have much better quality control.

They also only have a 1 year warranty NOW :jerkit:
