Kind of an unfair Swedish Knife trio_ EKA Swede 90, EKA Classic 5/small Pics

These three classic knives by EKA Sweden find their way into my EDC quite often. So I wanted to honour them with an appearance at Blade Forums.

They are just perfect cutting tools with a classy touch I enjoy a lot. The Swedish steel used is 12C27 and hardened with experience to around 57 - 59 HRC.
In case you wonder, why this might be an unfair selection - the Swede 90 (the one with the wooden scales) and the small Classic (with file and bottle opener) are out of production for some years now.
The latter was pushed besid by USB sticks as a business gift. Quite a shame...

The comparison pics of the Swede 90 are made with another classic knife I appreciate very much, made by Hartkopf, Solingen, Germany: the 098 08 0 22 is a great knife with 1.4034 steel. Not the hardest steel but of good nature, and it gets very sharp due to its fine grained structure. Would't want to miss that one either.
And its bottle opener works much better. That's why I sharpened the bottle opener of the EKA, which now serves mainly as a box cutter. That way the main blade keeps clean for food preparation.

I hope you enjoy these

Oliver

Oliver,

I did in fact enjoy seeing them and thanks for the post. :)

Servus Oliver - another Bavarian! :D :)

Nice knives, actually. Hartkopf is making some great stuff. I bought some of mine in Mühldorf am Inn. Unfortunatelly I don´t own any EKA knives, but this can change quickly.

Thanks for sharing!

Pushed aside for a USB stick? What has happened to the world! Our tools have changed quite a bit. Interesting to think about. Great post, Oliver. Welcome to the forum and it nice to see another gentleman from Bavaria!

Thanks for your welcome and the other replies.
Of course our tools have changed. But I own enough USB sticks and not enough beautiful knives –*even if I have quite some ;-)

Very nice, thanks for sharing. I find Swedish knives very interesting, although I don't have any yet. A nice blend of form and function.
