Kind of cool...

Today my two goofy dogs ran off from me when I wasn't paying attention. I suspected they were down in the woods. I decided to search for them while my wife checked out the road and pasture fence line.

I think its kind of cool that on my way out the door, I instinctively grabbed my RC3. I wasnt going "into the field" or even going to be more than a mile or so from the house. But it was a neat after thought that it has become instinctive to have a fixed blade and a folder on me any time I enter the woods. :)

Could be that I watched 127 hours last night LOL...

Oh, and the pups, were about a mile away in a creek bed thrashing about in the mud. LOL. Yeah, they didn't "hear" me. I cant be mad at them, its a GORGEOUS day here in Ga. They were just doing dog stuff. Plus my wife decided they both needed baths when they got back. LOL I guess to a dog, thats pretty much punishment.

Well i am glad you were able to find your pups nice and quick!:D I always have my three with me in my backpack whenever i leave the house. You never know when your going to need a reliable blade. My grandfather taught me to always have some kind of a good knife on you all the time.

i never used to even have knives until i started taking hikes with blackcaddy90... now i couldnt imagine even going to work without my izula. its amazing i didnt go crazy opening multiple boxes (with nylon reinforced tape) per day with a crappy pocket screwdriver. the right tools make all the difference, and instinctively knowing that you "need" them is a cool thing

That's how it always happens. I don't know how many times my dogs ran off when we lived by the woods only to find them playing not far away in the water.

Glad you found the pups. Coming home from work yesterday, I saw a chihuahua dragging a leash, out in the middle of traffic. I pulled over, caught him, and got him to the side of the road (all the while, he was snarling at me). I knocked on a few doors in the area, but nobody recognised him. He had no ID. Just when I had resigned myself to taking a feisty new 'buddy' home, a mail delivery truck pulled up behind me. the mail lady knew who he belonged to, about 4 blocks away!!!. She gave me directions, and off we went, returning junior home to two happy kids. Lucky for me - if I had taken him home, he would have kicked my 95 lb. Lab's butt!

BTW, I never go out in the woods without a sturdy fixed blade.

I never leave the house without a fixed blade of some type. The only exception to that is when I'm forced to go into any of the various cities where blades are prohibited. Especially Philadelphia where even folders and utility knives are prohibited. Then I feel naked because I don't have any sharps on me at all. Maybe I need to start learning to be less dependent on my sharps and only rely on them for "backup."

I feel completely unprepared without a knife on me. I have at least one on me all the time. In the woods , the 4 or 6 is always on me.

I always have a folder on me. today it was my full serrated Spyderco Endura.

I just think it was cool that I grabbed the 3 out of habit/instinct. :)

I was surprised how comfy it was in the front pocket of by BDUs. Quick and easy carry method!
