Kind of Vikingish

I saw a axe in a museum in Europe with the blade riveted on and it stuck in the slot in my burned out mind that says “I want to do one of those someday”. My forging has been boring lately so I needed a new kick in the pants project and this is the most intense thing I've ever done. Hours of filing! More pics when it is done, working on a blade cover/ hanger for it now………Randy

Burnt, fried or whatever, that is a GREAT piece of work my friend. My fav of your pieces so far, I love that thing Randy. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Best regards

Robin

Looks like it only needs some dried blood on it, you know for effect. Very cool Randy!

Wow, everybody at home today?
Robin, Thanks, the iron is all from the same horse drawn plow set or what was left of it. A big turning plow. The handle wrap, hardware on the butt and all of the rivets were from the drops or scraps. The ring on the butt was from the same set but it was 3" so I cut part of it out and beat it back together. Gotta learn to weld something that small without burning it up.
Thanks Edge-Holder, Jay and Foxx, I've been drifting a little farther back in history than normal.
Chris, means a lot from a talented craftsman.
Thanks All.......Randy

A rustic Beauty..Very nicely done...Thanks for showing !

Thanks Dusty, EvilMike, USMC2017 and Steve ( Let the tin bashers come, and bring money). Appreciate the kind words......Randy

It looks like Vulvai dropped it when he was fighting the Wendol in the 13 Warrior movie.

To cool my friend.

Thanks Edwood, I liked the Wendol weapon with the horns. Would go well with your complaint department collection......Randy

Randy, I just now saw your latest since I was traveling. Fantastic! I love the Viking stuff. One of your best pieces.

If it isnt made from some scraps or other wreckage picked up from yard sales I'll be disappointed.
Disappointment to you my Brother is not an option. Here's the hanger. The leather is from a saddle skirt. Rawhide wrapping on the edges from the same deer as the axe and the metal hanger is from a scrap of the same plow. The cross thing is old roof flashing. Finish is black grease with dried up brown dye mixed in with varnish.......Randy
