Kinda a dumb question

but I have been gifted a new strop. I've never used a real strop only my leather boot, etc. Could someone explain to me the proper way to strop a knife and about the compounds that are used on the strop. Your advise etc, will be appreciated. Thanks!

hi TTT, your best bet would be to search in this forum: Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment. There are many talented people on here that can give you all the ins and outs of stropping for begginers. Good Luck
