I have been a knife nut pretty much my whole life (and I'm now 63!) but I just recently discovered this BK&T forum. I've spent the last week or so lurking and reading a lot of the FAQ and tutorial threads, and learned a lot. So I figure it's time to stop just lurking and post of a pic of my new acquisitions, which you guys made me buy! :D

I had been a fan of the BK&T designs for awhile. The BK6 Patrol Machete I have had for a few years and resided in my vehicle survival kit. I also had a Camillus Becker Brute, but in a moment of irrationality I sold it to a friend. Now I am desparately trying to remember which friend I sold it to so I can try to buy it back. I actually like the BK6 better in the survival kit, but the Brute had a certain "feel" to it that I would like to have back.

So since I have discovered this forum the Becker Bug has bitten me again, and I just received the BK2 and BK11. I like micarta handle slabs, so I got those at the same time. I will probably also start tinkering with them, as I find it hard to leave things alone.

I don't get out in the woods camping as much as I used to. When we lived in California we spent a lot of time backpacking and canoe camping up in the Sierras. When my son was in the Scouts and I was an Ass't Scoutmaster we were out at least one weekend most every month, learning and practicing woodcraft and survival skills. Now that I am older, and we have moved to Central Texas, we don't find ourselves out in the woods much anymore. My wife doesn't like camping much here because she says everything on the ground in Texas either bites, sticks, or stings. But I'm sure the BK2 will be happy in my BOB or vehicle survival kit, and the BK11 is just a handy little sucker to have around for every day use. So I am sure they will get some use.

Anyway, glad to have found you guys and I'm sure I will spend way too many hours reading and absorbing all the various experiences on this forum.

Bruce (aka weaponeer, a screen name I have been using on the 'net since my military days in the 70's.)

Welcome aboard. This is a great place. That BK6 Patrol Machete is just down right sexy!!:D
I wouldn't be the first or only person that would be willing to take it off your hands. The rest of the droolers should be along shortly. I see you did read quite a bit and pay attention to the first rule of pics required. Pull up a chair and stay awhile.

Welcome to the Becker Forum, its a pleasure to have you here.

Sounds like you got some hills behind you, its always a pleasure to meet guys that can teach, and have fun with the rest of us.

Nice lookin' blades you got there, and I have to agree with your wife, after spending over a decade in Texas, I really do love the place, but it ain't all green meadows and hay fields. :D

I went to college in College Station, and my best friend's dad used to have a horse ranch in Bryan. I've lived in Granbury, Corpus Christi, D/FW, Grapevine, Austin, El Paso, and a few other podunk towns that had only one building. :D Loves me some Texas.

Stick around, Bruce, its good to have you here.

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll like it here.

Also... your becker collection is already better than mine .

Stick around and earn your beckerhead number, its totally worth it :).

Yes sir, welcome indeed. This is where I'd normally say post up some pictures of your wife or girlfriend in her bikini holding your Becker's, however your about my dad's age and he would'nt appreciate it, so assuming it's a generational thing, nevermind. That having been said it is a very good time to come hang out. New knives, contests, giveaways.

Sweet looking steel. Welcome to the Becker madness.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. @ Moose, I'm in Central Texas in a little town just west of Fort Hood. I just retired last year after 40 years either in or with the Army. Twelve years active duty as a Signal Officer, and then switched to Civil Service DA Civilian so I could continue in my rather narrow specialty (weapon system development and testing.) Been around the world a couple of times, but ended up spending 20 years near the old Fort Ord in Monterey, CA and then kicked upstairs to Fort Hood in '97 when California decided they didn't like our evil little weapons testing lab in the Santa Lucia mountains. So we have been here 14 years and I am still not acclaimated to the Texas summers. This last one was just brutal. No fun being outside in the summer at all. After having been born and raised in upstate NY, and spending 20 years on the California Coast, I really like cool weather a bit more!

But, here is where I am, so we will adapt, improvise, and overcome! :D

Hell yeah. :D Was you on post when that idiot shot the place up a couple years ago? I had a 11B friend of mine that was there, on a through and through move, and was caught up in all that mess.

I do love me some Texas, though, if I didn't live here in East Tenn, I would be in Texas some where. Probaly more west, as the Black Tail get pretty big out them ways. :D

I was there that day, though my building was way over on the other side of the post near Gray Army Airfield. We were all locked down in our building and not allowed to leave and go home until after 7 PM. Horrible day.

Nice BK-2 and 11! Welcome!

I just got a BK-2 not long ago and it's one heck of a knife for the money, isn't it?

Yeah, I wasn't there and it was rough on us. Hate to hear about folks losing their cool and cappin' a bunch of folks for no reason. Whatever that jugheads reason was, it wasn't a good one.

My bud was out in a couple of days, then he told me that he was just outside the mess hall, when it all went down.

Glad ya'll made it through OK.

Enough of that. I like knives. :D

Welcome aboard Weaponeer. That's some Becker starter kit you got there:thumbup:

Screw it, i tried to be civilized and it's not workin'. We need Bikini pics holding beckers.

I had a work project that took me to Germany a couple times a year for the last four years. I was mostly down in Munich, but also spent some time up in the Bundeswehr weapons testing area in Meppen up in the northwest.

I loved walking around the beautiful parks in Munich and then going downtown to the Platz for a beer or three!
