You should have seen his eyes light up. It was just a little USA 12UH that I picked up somewhere.

I don't get to feel that good very often.

Got home and put my 18OT back in my pocket.

Love those little single blades.

Just wanted to share with people who understand.

I can imagine how much that meant to him.
That it was a decent knife on top of it being a gift was just frosting on the cake.

Nice..

Wish mine were still around to do the same. Seems most of the time the giving goes the otherway and they aint around to say thanks too.

Im passing mine to my kids and grand kids as I can, while Im still here.

One of the best pleasures of being a knife collector, for me, is giving my family and friends a good knife to use and enjoy. Giving one to my son is paying it forward. Alas, I am to late to pay it backward. I did give my father a good Camillus Sears pen knife before he passed away in 1989. But I never had the opportunity to give one to my grandfathers, both of whom passed in the early 1960's.

My son was last given an 8OT (he is working construction with me now). I opened the clampack with my 897UH. Today he told me that it was rusting on him. I explained caring for a good carbon steel knife. Wipe it dry. A bit of oil. Keep it sharp so it will be useful when you need it. I didn't need to be told these things at 28. I think I'll recall that 8OT and give him one of my spare 897UH's. Moisture, sweat, salt and chlorine don't bother them.

I still need to get a Schrade FFA knife for my daughter.
