I saw a mini computter devise called a kendel on Amazon It allows you to down load books (about 200) and magazines and news papers from their store as long as youj can get a signal this kindel is about the size and weight of a paper back. I thought this would be a great way to carry a extencive reference library with you.
I was wondering if anyone has any experence with this thing.

We just bought my Mom the Sony E-reader, which is the other version of what you're talking about. We chose that one for her for a couple of reasons, most specifically user-friendliness.

For us, we're waiting to see how this works out. I have no doubt that this is the way of the future. We're BIG readers, and so very excited about the concept.

Frankly, I am desperate for one of these. I would buy one tomorrow.

But... right now, it feels like it's still at the Beta vs. VHS stage. That is, one will likely prevail and become the dominant format, but who knows which?

And, as with Beta, the superior format is no guarantee to win.

That in mind, and since I'm sure Sony remembers the cost of that loss, I'd lean towards them not letting it happen again, but right now, we're "waiting and seeing."
