Been looking for some good cameras, not only for knife porn, but when I next go out hunting. Something in the 100-200 dollar range. Tired of using my iphone camera, which is complete shit. Any recommendations?
 
I had good results with my Sony WX9. They can be had for just over $100 and took great macro pictures. I'd post some samples but I'm posting from my phone right now.
 
If you look at the image properties of pictures you like, it often tells you the camera make and model. On my Opera browser you just right click the picture and select image properties. The poster usually has the option to show or hide the information in their photo software. IIRC the pix I think look technically exceptional are often Canon or Sony cameras.

Even a $200 budget can get a great camera.

Great knife photography is 10% camera, and 90% lighting and composition.

Yeah lighting is everything. A simple light box and even an old 6MP dSLR can make outstanding images.
 
For point-and-shoot cameras, my favorites are the Canons. The PowerShot SX260 and PowerShot SX500 are priced just over $200 (you can undoubtedly find previous models from the same lines, like the SX230, for less). Unlike most other point-and-shoot cameras, these allow the photographer full control over the shutter speed, aperture, and even focus. Of course they also have full auto modes too.
 
A homemade light box will do more for knife pics than an expensive camera. Other than that, have you considered the Casios? They're generally solid in picture quality and features and add a high speed mode that let's you take hundreds of pictures in a second. Not useful for knife porn, but if you photograph sports, children or pets you van get incredible results. They're terrific for sports coaching too - you can really see where you are going wrong with a golf swing or hip throw.

I finally settled on the Canon SX-150.
Just checked and it is selling now for just under $100.
Only downside for some may be it uses AA batteries, which I actually wanted in my case. The newer Duracell rechargeables work well and last a long time.

Sony Cyber-shot is a good camera. But knowing how to use your camera and some photo basics will still get you some decent quality pix. I don't have a camera in my phone, and I don't want one as I already have a phone and a couple of good cameras.
