I've got 3 questions I hope a lot of you will answer:

1. Of all the folders you own, once owned, or have ordered, which is your favorite?

2. Of all the fixed blades you own, once owned, or have ordered, which is your favorite?

3. Lastly, which is the KING (or Queen) of the hill? - your number one, favorite overall blade that you own, have owned, or have ordered?

RULES: Only one answer per question! No fair picking blades you don't or didn't own or haven't ordered. Think of it like this - if you could ONLY keep one of each...

My favs are:
1- FOLDER: Kit Carson Model 4, Clip Point
2- FIXED: Busse Steel Heart II in Infi
3- KING: Brend Model 2 Fixed Combat Knife (I sold it!!! - BIG mistake!).

Perhaps others have posted similar polls to this in the past, but favorites change. What are your favorites, TODAY? It will be interesting to read your responses. Thanks,

Happy Trails...

Hmmmm. . . .

1. Folder? Ummm . . . .damn, just one? I guess I'd pick an old Case XX Tested doctor's knife in greenbone, just 'cause I hadn't ever seen one before and it was cool to find it, especially in such good shape (Dad paid $8 for it at an auction. That's not a typo, $8. We sold it for $300 and figured we gave the guy a pretty good deal.)

2. Fixed? Easy. My Folts Mantis #3 of 25. My first and only custom so far (besides the POS's I've made for myself) and by far the best-made knife I own.
(P.S.--my dad has a BlackJack special edition knife, made as a limited edition fundraiser for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. That's probably his favorite . . .)

The Mantis is definitely King of the Hill in my book. Oddly enough, I've found that it's male--very few of my favorite possessions are. I'm thinking of naming it Zorak.

Folder: Cold Steel Vaquero Grande. It doesn't exactly utilize the most advanced materials, but even to this day, I am still amazed at the shear size and power of this knife. Endura runs a close second, though.

Fixed: I like my Recon Tanto. It's my only FB (so I'm kinda biased

), but it does the job well, and that's all I'm really concerned with.

King: My soon-to-be BF Native courtesy of Mike Turber's awesome generosity..

Thank you! Woohoo!

My knife collection has been rather limited thus far, but keep running this type of thread every month or so, and my favourites will surely change....

Yes! Ye olde "If I can only have X knives" thread! My choices might vary from hour to hour, but I might go with a CRK Sebenza for the folder, a CRK Project I for the big honkin' fixed blade, and a 4" Engnath-ground ATS34 blade with my hand sanding and ironwood handle for general utility.

Or . . . .

A Boye folder in Dendritic Cobalt for serious edge holding, especially for fiber cutting, a Veikko Hakkarainen puukko in forged carbon steel and birchbark for a nice organic knife that can strike a spark, and a Fallkniven A1.

Or . . . .

Easy.

FOLDER - One of my Sebenza's
FIXED - Combat Basic #9
UTILITY INFIELDER - If I had to pick only one blade, my CRK Project II... no, the Busse...oh wait, the Mad Dog YFA...hold on, maybe....

Don G,
No nightmares, but plenty of regrets. I bought that blade about 12 years ago for $500, and about 9 years ago sold it for $400! OUCH!!! (I plead temporary insanity). That knife is would resell for $800 today. Live and learn.

Favorites not the best ones:

Folder: Civilian - The blade shape is magical

Fixed: Martiini Arctic Leuku. - 20 cm blade of roughly forged carbonsteel knife with waxed curly birch handle. You can see the general blade shape of a leuku in chai cutlery (kellam knifes). Bought it -94 from Martiini arctic circle factory outlet with circa 70$. I have paid threefold for a knife thereafter that but unless I find a new one this'll be my favorite.

King: Martiini A. Leuku - did I tell you that I love it!

Folder: My Pertemet camp knife (the Finnish "balisong" with red handles). Just got it, I should have bought more than one. You can't beat the quality for that price.

Fixed blade: The Sissipuukko M-95 by J-P Peltonen. One sturdy fellow.

King: The U.S.M.C Fighting/Utility from Ka-Bar. This one was a gift from my folks.
