The above .22" thick flat-ground satin ASH1 and .26" thick full-convex satin NMFBM are my picks for heirs apparent from two impressive dynasties begun with the original SH and BM. Which models make the grade as crown princes to these thrones in your mind?

did you strip that ash-1 or is it an le?

neither :D

The knife is a one-off factory original --.22" thick, flat ground from the spine, satin finished--exactly the same as an ASH1 LE, but with original Sandstorm G10 slabs from the factory instead of micarta.

Hmm. Perhaps the old original Satin Jack and the new Boss Jack. I love the original and rather like the new Boss Jack.

Still waiting for the heir to the kingdom of ABA/BAIII.;)

Couldn't agree more--both the original Satin Jack and new BOSS Jack are classics in my mind also, and as close in shape/size/feel to what I think of as a "conventional" design as Busse has ever done--certainly one done right.

Thanks to all for the nice compliments,
Will

Very nice photo.... I would love to own some older models like that. Sadly, the funds just aren't there. Nice to look at yours though..

Are you talking about the CG or LE BOSS Jack?

I am going to have to get one

I haven't had a BJLE in hand. The 3/16" thick version of the original SJ was a nicely balanced piece, though. I do think the CG and the other BOSS Jacks that have been produced in the past year at .22" thick are livelier in hand than the original .25" thick SJ. I don't know whether Old Physics was comparing the CG BOSS Jack or the LE--or both--to the original SJ.

Well, Obviously I think the B11 is now the bigger badder son of the B9's.

I would have to say I think the BWM LE is the legitimate Heir of the old straight handles. The NMFBM is the illegitimate step son with a viking father!

Agree--to me the BWM LE has a lot of the same feel as the SHBM in terms of weight and balance, and with the opened up rear talon angle is a lot more comfortable for prolonged chopping. Of course, it can't begin to keep up with the NMFBM as a chopper/smasher/weapon of mass destruction.

The B11 is the closest thing to a machete in feel--light and fast--definitely an improvement IMO over the B9, and not to mention it's INFI.

I'd say they both hold up pretty well.:)
