has anyone seen paul vunaks video called kino mutia or kina mutai (not sure of spelling)? i am filipino and i've never heard of this word. does anyone know what dialect this is from the philippines? it sounds more chinese than filipino. i just wanted to know if there is such a word/words. i know in tagalog we call it kinamutan and kinagatan or kagatan which means to scratch/pinch and bite in a fight.

I'm in the Philippines right now and I'm Filipino but I'm sure we don't have that word in Tagalog. Could be an American misspelling of Visayan terminology. Actually pareng Hank, the word "kamot" or "Kinamot" refers to "hand" in Visayan. It has nothing to do with the Tagalog word "scratch". It's just like the Okinawan word for karate--just "Te" or "hand" before they came up with karate.

Actually traditionally there was no separate subsystem for empty hands or even for "biting" in FMA. Just weapons techniques and their empty hands applications/variations. Only in the 20th century and the popularization in the States did such subsystems arise and formalize.

What is Kina Mutai all about?
What has to be learned about biting and scratching, isn't it natural to human beings?
