Hi Guys
here is a new folder i got made.

i would like to thank all the artists who helped me get this beauty ready for this local hunting show i will be taking part in.

knifemaker: joe kious[for his time in replying to all my emails.i know joe isnt very internet friendly but he had patience in answering all my email querries]
engraver :cj cai[for giving me a slot and getting it done on time]
pouch maker: stuart branson.[i know i went overboard with a custom pouch but it looks lovely with the knife and stuart did an amazing job at this]
box maker :Les of brookfield case[sorry no pic of the box as yet] but its a lovely walnut box which holds the knife, name plate and the pouch.
knife image:you know whom[thanks for the patience in dealing with me.i know i can drive people crazy with my last minute changes]

its going to be a part of my small collection but ill be displaying it at the show.

its an arabic theme with falconry, horses, camels and arabian motifs used in the design.

hope you guys like it.
enjoy!

:D

Nice to see the knife. Beautiful work. Happy to see that the pattern on the pouch is reflected in the knife too.

Very well chosen elements to suit the Arabic theme of
your folder, Soh, and CJ does know how to cut into and
inlay steel with gold!!

Quite a unique collection you have been acquiring over
the passing months, I am sure that it will have an amazing
impact on visitor's to the show!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

I absolutely LOVED this folder. Every great knifemaker has a style you can see from across the room. CJ Cai is an engraver who's style is simply that recognizable.

I heard someone else describe his work as being able to see all the elements from six feet away. It's very graphic, without needing an eye loupe to appreciate all that is offered. (And to those pieces, what a treasure they are as well! ;))

Sohail, I believe you suggested a whole array of elements for CJ to include and he chose what he could within the confines of this canvas.

Easily my favorite CJ Cai engraved piece to date.

I don't want to leave out the mastery of Joe Kious. He simply makes a complex folder look easy. It's mindboggling how accurate and well-made this is.

Congrats on this!

Great artistry on this one, all the way around. You must be very pleased with it, Soh!

Best,

Bob

Congrats Sohail!

Very Nice folder/sheath/display case package.
You're putting together a fine collection.

don't get me wrong, the knife is nice, but that leather pouch is AWESOME:)!
Perfect interpretation imo.

Thanks Lorien.

I just realized that that pouch was the first one I made and the zipper didn't work very well, among other things (it was extremely difficult to make).

Here's a couple pics of the second one. Not to hijack the stunning focal point of this thread but to set the record straight. :)

Another instance of proof, if any were needed, that custom knives can be art objects for the ages, and, by the way, quite usable for their ancient purpose.

Beautiful all the way, Sohail.

Stu, I could live in a luxury leather case like that...plush!
See you tomorrow!

thanks guys.glad you liked it.
stuart-apologies for showing the wrong sheath.both were amazing.
i sure will enjoy this knife.

another thing..Stuart was kind enough to take on this difficult project for me.
custom pouches are unheard of but Stuart took up the challenge and made this on an experimental basis.
there were technical issues in the first one he made but he showed super professionalism and remade a new one which came out flawless.
the tan-the leather tooling.just what i wanted.

thanks everyone

Very nice.
A question about the part that can slide out.
Does it have a purpose or is it a way to show more beautifull details?

You have answered your own question perfectly. :D

It's also useful for hiding REALLY LITTLE secret stuff, but it has to be really little and really secret.:D Nearly invisible helps also.......at least that's what Kious says.
