I just received a package from Kismet and in a note enclosed he said he has lost his computer.
The really sad news is that Kis said he isn't likely to be able to replace it or get it fixed so he probably won't be around anymore.:(
Do y'all think we can do something for Kis? Just something to get online with would be a big help, or at least it would for me.
I know this one is the last one I'm probably gonna be able to afford so I can relate to what Kis is saying.:(

Kis also said to tell everyone how much he enjoyed the discussions here and to say good bye for him.
That's the least I could do. kismet is a good friend and one of the good guys!!!!
I'm gonna miss him!:(

Did it die or was it stolen? If it just crapped out on him I could take a look at it and see if it's just a simple fix, like maybe a new hard drive. I'd also like to see Kismet hang around a little longer, it sucks when we lose a member due to incidental stuff like dead computers.

This is not OK. I've always enjoyed his posts.

I don't have any spare equipment, but would be happy to contribute to getting him some, or getting the old stuff repaired.

Yvsa - I'm willing to share my butter n' egg money, if you will post us an address. Been off from work 5 weeks with cellulitis, but the doc turned me loose to go back to work Monday. Hope everybody has a safe Thanksgiving.

munk is another one down for now. Good news is they're coming down in price, maybe drastically in the near future. Drat!

Hey, how about we start a computer fund for Kismet and Munk. I'd be willing to pitch in some extra money to help get them back online.

As RR said, if it just died, maybe one of us could fix it. I'm pretty good at troubleshooting hardware. The machine I'm on, I built myself. If all it needs is some new parts, I might be able to find them cheap. Cheap enough, maybe, that I could donate them. Anyone able to call Kismet? Or is snailmail the only contact method we have?

I thought about this quite a bit yesterday. Didn't spend alot of time with family so I ended up reading here alot, kind of like a second family and all. If nothing else works out perhaps we could have a raffle. I have a 25" Kobra that I am willing to put up for a raffle towards a computer fund. I would think that at $5 0r $10 a chance enough people would be willing to take a chance to get a very nice Kobra, enough to cover repairs or a used computer or something. Uncle Bill, and others, let me know what you think of this idea.

Mark,
I like the idea of a raffle. I could probably find something to raffle off if need be. That museum model that I posted in the for sale forums that nobody would buy might be an option. Unique khukuri.

Kismet's address sent to all who requested it. Kis did put his full address on this package, hopefully because I asked him to as one of these days he will get a package from me, but his previous package just had a partial address.
I wish I had Kismet's phone number and I may try to pull it up on Google, Dogpile, Yahoo or one of the other services that lists such things.
If anyone else pulls it up please e-mail it to me if you will please.

A10MAC your mailbox refused mail from me so I have no way of relaying the info on to you.:(
