The comedian Dennis Miller wrote this:

ALL THE RHETORIC ON WHETHER OR NOT WE SHOULD GO TO WAR AGAINST IRAQ HAS GOT MY INSANE LITTLE BRAIN SPINNING LIKE A ROULETTE WHEEL.I ENJOY READING OPINIONS FROM BOTH SIDES BUT I HAVE DETECTED A HINT OF CONFUSION FROM SOME OF YOU.

AS I WAS READING THE PAPER RECENTLY, I WAS REMINDED OF THE BEST ADVICE SOMEONE EVER GAVE ME. HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE KISS METHOD - KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!

SO, WITH THIS AS A THEME, I'D LIKE TO APPLY THIS THEORY FOR THOSE WHO DON'T QUITE GET IT. MY HOPE IS THAT WE CAN SIMPLIFY THINGS A BIT AND RECOGNIZE A FEW IMPORTANT FACTS.

HERE ARE NINE THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN VOICING AN OPINION ON THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE:

1) OUT OF PRESIDENT BUSH AND SADDAM HUSSEIN ...
HUSSEIN IS THE BAD GUY.

2) IF YOU HAVE FAITH IN THE UNITED NATIONS TO DO THE RIGHT THING KEEP THIS IN MIND, THEY HAVE LIBYA HEADING THE COMMITTEE ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND IRAQ HEADING THE GLOBAL DISARMAMENT COMMITTEE. DO YOUR OWN MATH HERE.

3) IF YOU USE GOOGLE SEARCH AND TYPE IN "FRENCH MILITARY VICTORIES", YOUR REPLY WILL BE, "DID YOU MEAN FRENCH MILITARY DEFEATS?"

4) IF YOUR ONLY ANTI-WAR SLOGAN IS "NO WAR FOR OIL," SUE YOUR SCHOOL
DISTRICT FOR ALLOWING YOU TO SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS AND ROBBING YOU OF THE EDUCATION YOU DESERVE.

5) SADDAM AND BIN LADEN WILL NOT SEEK UNITED NATIONS' APPROVAL BEFORE THEY TRY TO KILL US.

6) DESPITE COMMON BELIEF, MARTIN SHEEN IS NOT THE PRESIDENT. HE JUST PLAYS ONE ON T.V.

7) EVEN IF YOU ARE ANTI-WAR, YOU ARE STILL AN "INFIDEL!" AND BIN LADEN WANTS YOU DEAD, TOO.

8) IF YOU BELIEVE IN A "VAST RIGHT-WING CONSPIRACY" BUT NOT IN THE DANGER THAT HUSSEIN POSES; QUIT HANGING OUT WITH THE DELL COMPUTER DUDE.

9) WHETHER YOU ARE FOR MILITARY ACTION OR AGAINST IT, OUR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN OVERSEAS ARE ALREADY COMMITED TO FIGHTING FOR US TO DEFEND OUR RIGHT TO SPEAK OUT. WE ALL NEED TO SUPPORT THEM WITHOUT RESERVATION.

I HOPE THIS HELPS.

God bless our Troops!

Hard to believe Dennis miller wrote that.He most of time is very anti gun and such.Maybe he see's war in a different light than most of his opionions.Well maybe he finally said something of importance to me.

I like what he wrote and feels about the war, however I really could care less about his or any other celebrities opinions about anything. In my opinion they all live in another world which is full of weird and non grounded ideas. They all seem to be empowered with this idea of if I speak it really matters.People like you and me who work hard every day and actually go and fight when our country calls are the opinions I value the most.People who live in this world and are not dettached from it are the most important folk.Celebrity opinion, please!:barf:

As Marsupial inferred, just because celebrities are good looking or can act - does not mean they are geniuses or have a monopoly on good ideas or what is right.

As for Dennis Miller, I never really liked him either, but he makes some excellent points - makes things pretty clear and simple !

yea i also think like you, i was sent this and found it true and amusing... as for todays events at the war...

i wish we would pull out all stops and make those sob's hurt, and i mean really hurt.

we shouldn't waste any time trying to make them surrender, put um in body bags... better yet just leave them squished on the spot:mad:

Consider this, most of the Iraqi "regular army" are conscripts (draftees). They are there out off fear for their (and their families') lives. That is why so many of them surrender; they'll be better treated as POWs. :( These aren't the men that need to be hurt, it's the leadership. That's why I liked the "decapitation strike", it was aimed at the "responsible few", the ones sitting comfortably in meetings, while the poor under-armed, under-fed draftees are sent to face the music.
Don't get me wrong, I fully support the US and coalition troops, I just wish they could kill only those responsible for the situation, not their (in most cases) unwilling pawns.
In many cases now, I heard on CNN, the surrendering Iraqi "soldiers" are disarmed and told to go home...

i understand what you mean, i was and am angry, if i were there i think i would find it hard to "play fair" after todays mishaps.

the sooner he's gone the better.

I agree that alot of Iraq soldiers are there out of fear of their own lives but dont think for one minute they would'nt kill a US soldier just the same if given the right opportunity. The soldiers we let go today we will more than likely be fighting again tommorrow or years later.I dont believe we should kill em all but there does need to be more than letting them go home going on.I also agree that it would be nice if we could just let the ones who cause all these problems suffer such as the leaders and plotters of the country ,but this is not how war works out in this world.Innocents will and do suffer. As we saw on sept 11 the enemy has no regard for our innocents, our women and children, wives, sons and daughters.I have no compassion for the people of Iraq as I see them burning flags in the streets after sept 11,Hussein certainly didnt threaten their lives if they did not burn flags but it was of their own will to do so.Time and time again you see anti American sentiment coming from all over the Arab world. It is obvious of their hatred towards us,for we represent the christian country of infidels. If you are not Muslim you are enemy, plain and simple and must be converted or destroyed. They have no mercy for our prisoners as we treat theirs fairly. If the arab world had half the chance they would eat us for lunch and may eventually do so under the right circumstances, nope no pity from me.

Christiane Amanpour of CNN had an excellent report a few months ago in which she illustrated an intersting point. The setting was Pakistan, and the topics was the great hatred of the Americans that US TV was constantly showing. Her report showed the flag burning masses chanting their various slogans, etc... The camera then turned to the sidewalks, where there were people (mostly the shop owners) watching in quiet bemusement. Then it sort of fast forwarded about a half hour or so, and the marchers were gone (right after the rest of the cameras). She interviewed the shop owners and regular passers by, who had no problem with Americans or the US. They were very much bored by the daily protest(s) put on by the militant few when the cameras were rolling. They got the media attention they so desperately wanted, and the Media got "good TV"...

Marsupial, certainly the better trained divisions which the US is facing now are a different story. They fight, they get what they asked for, no ifs, ands or buts. As for the tactics of pretending to surrender, and then attacking... well if that is happening those responsible should pay the price ...

What Saddam is doing has no more to do with Islam, than the troubles in Ireland have to do with the Catholocism or Protestant religions. More attrocities have been commited in the name of Religion (pick one...); it has always historically been the easiest way to "sell" a war...

To quote Pink Floyd: "Forward!" he cried, from the rear, and the front rank died...

In war, it is seldom those responsible that do the actual fighting... :grumpy:
Anyway, this is getting WAY too political... ;) :footinmou much like many of the celebrities are getting. But, that's America...:D

There's a great line/quote, though I cannot recall the source:

"I may hate what you say, but will fight to the death for your right to say it!"
