I just snagged this one off of ebay. I'm curious if it's actually "vintage" (whatever that means), and how old it may or may not be. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if it was made yesterday. I bought it because I like the blade selection and the stag. But if it's old or old-ish, so much the better.

Hi Aaron!

I´m not an expert on Klaas knives... But I found a pretty old one at a fleamarket. The shield at your knife doesn´t seem to be pretty old or vintage...

Nevertheless... yours look really great... Maybe you can ask at the BRL forum for some more question and answer.

Kind regards
Andi

Kissing Crane produced a series of folders in either the 1970's or '80's that were reproductions of their vintage patterns from the early 1900's. I think this is one of these reproductions. I have a number of them (maybe 10 ?) and they are nicely made knives. The price you paid is about average for what this series usually sell for.

Roland is right on ...the set was supposed to start in 1970(1) but actually didn't start till 1972 and ran thru the 80's...the Roman Numbers started at XI and are the way to date the knives.

So, if it is marked XIX, then it'd be from 1979? I guess that's sorta vintage. Older than I am, anyway.;) Thanks for the info, guys.
