I just wanted to write a quick review of the kissing crane I order from an internet knife supplier. I have purchased around ten slippies in the 10 - 20 price range, including steel warriors, shrade, rough rider, and marbles, but this is already my favorite "cheaper" knife. I ordered it about four days ago, and received it last night via UPS. I thought this was pretty good considering the free shipping. It is a modified mini trapper with yellow celluloid scales. Fit and finish is better than most. I actually like the blade finish better than my case knives because it has the vertical grind marks instead of the mirror finish. I like it better than the finish on case "working" knives because although it has the grind lines, it is finshed more like a handmade to around 600 grit. Also, grinds are very even with very nicely done false edges on the top of both blades. The blades are also thicker than most ,which I like, but does not compromise on edge geometry because it has really nice hollow grinds. Both blades are razor sharp out of the box. It also has good walk and talk, with a slightly stiffer than most backspring. It is not a nail breaker though. The only thing I would change on this is to have carbon steel blades.
I carry a different traditional ever day, but I think I will carry this one everyday, and then another one just so they all get out of the house once in a while. I feel they all have personalities, and want to be useful.
I think I paid about 14 dollars with tax plus free shipping. Here is a borrowed pick.
